Moonfire Farm Shenandoah region cozy getaway

The walkout finished basement at Moonfire Farm is a cozy 2bdrm apt with full kitchen. It has a patio with views of the animal pen with alpacas and goats prancing around. Free range chicken eggs to pluck from the coop. Always cool in the summer. 2 miles from Preddy Creek- a county hiking area with cooling waters close to the parking area. 30 minutes from Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. We specialize in the farm experience. You might find chicken poop on your front stoop but you can also take an alpaca for a stroll around the yard. We have a zip line and swings for the kids and a firepit for those who want to do smores and enjoy the stars. High speed WiFi ! Luna our livestock guardian dog will probably greet you when you pull in (right side of the driveway). We do not currently have wifi but we are expecting to have it by January 2023

Fun time on the farm

A wonderful getaway with out young kids

Our young family throughly enjoyed our stay and I wish we had had more time to enjoy more of the property as we spent most of our days out with the friends that we were visiting. This place was perfect for our family of 4. Each room has a ceiling fan which is great for the hot July weather. And I greatly appreciated how well stocked everything was as I forgot shampoo for my children and there were two options for me to choose from which was so helpful. We will certainly stay here again.

Great stay on the farm

We stayed one night on our way to the Outter Banks. We were greeted by the sweetest pup and family. We even received delicious fresh cherries. The accommodations were as pictured and very clean and comfortable. We have never stayed at a location, so well stocked. The farm was so cute. Our five-year-old loved playing with the owner’s daughter and learning about the chickens, ducks, goats, and alpacas. They even showed him how to pick his own eggs! This location was perfect for relaxing after a long day in the car. If we are ever coming this way again, we will definitely be stopping back. Thank you for being great hosts. Love you I was daddy

Great farm experience

The rental is on the back of a farmhouse in a beautiful rural area. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly Pyrenees who patrolled , providing security for chickens, ducks, goats, turkeys and alpacas. The host was very accommodating and the kitchen well-stocked. Two cute bedrooms (check out the "Van Goat" room) and a nice bathroom. Wonderful in every way!

Amazing Find

The farm is just a wonderful place. Love how the animals are all around and very cute. Lovely scenic area. The two bedroom walkout basement is very nice and clean. Wonderful stay only complaint was we made a reservation for one night next time we will be staying longer.

Cute rural location

Our accommodations were great. Nice kitchen area with plenty of coffee. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms were welcoming. Bathroom was very very nice. Looked newly updated. We were welcomed by alpacas, chickens, ducks, and goats. So fun!I knew when I booked this that it was a more relocation, which was fine. People should know, though that you may not have service in the house depending who your carrier is however, however, there is Wi-Fi available.Also, the roads to get to the property are very twisty – definitely back roads. Not a problem for me, but my aunt did stay with us and I could tell she was a little nervous driving back to the house at night in the dark. This would not keep me from booking again, but if I was staying with someone who’s a little more timid of a driver and they would need to drive that might make me look at another property just for their sake. But overall, it was great and the hosts were very helpful.

Fun farm trip

We had a great time! Our two year old and four year old loved all the animals. They enjoyed feeding them and picking fresh eggs. Very clean and laid back. Had everything we needed to cook meals and have a comfortable stay.

What a lovely time!

First, the hosts are so friendly and helpful and kind! Couldn't ask for nicer hosts. The property is lovely and hanging out with so many animals is such a bonus. Watching the ducks was especially fun! The hosts also went above and beyond with extras, from a stocked donation based pantry to toiletries to extra towels and blankets

Fabulous getaway

Everything was great - from the warm family welcome to the serene setting to the fully stocked bathrooms and kitchen, ensuring if you forgot something you were not stuck! Wonderful visit!!!

Only wish we could have stayed longer. The place is spotlessly clean and much better stocked than any hotel anywhere. My granddaughter (8) didn't want to leave all the animals. It was much better than a petting zoo.

Lovely farm visit

Our family of three had a wonderful stay at this cute farm. Our hosts were great and showed us around their collection of alpacas, goats, chickens, and ducks. The rental unit is clean and comfortable and was well stocked with drinks and snacks.

Animal Lovers Trip

We had a peaceful girls trip and were greeted by a smiling dog, farm animals, and the family (hosts). The home was clean, comfy, well stocked, and within 20 min of stores, wineries, and restaurants. The animals that we got to feed, pet, and learn about, made our vacation special. Thank you to Stuart, Christina, and Piper for your hospitality, and to Luna for being the sweetest dog. We will bring our young grandkids next time!

A slice of Tranquility Pie

What an amazing retreat! The hosts were wonderfully warm and inviting, the fury/feathered host were so receptive to petting and loves, and the apartment was perfect. It was filled with everything you could ever want during a stay (extra blankets, water, juice, fresh eggs - etc). My son and I felt so relaxed and at home. Grateful.

Great hosts! The apartment is clean and comfortable. It was so relaxing to stay on the farm and watch the animals. My kids enjoyed the pool, the duck family was adorable, and one of the alpacas came up to the fence for me to pet it. If I get back to the Charlottesville area I would stay here again.

A wonderful and pleasant stay

Dear Christina, Thank you for sharing your home and making us feel very welcomed during our stay. Your hospitality was above and beyond what we had expected. The fridge was stocked with various drinks. The freezer had frozen food. There were snacks on the table. And there were also books and games in the cabinets. Your place was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom had things that travelers might have forgotten. You really put a lot of thoughts into this. And we really appreciate that. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we could pet your goats, llamas, chickens and ducks. And how can we forget our experience with Luna. She’s such a cool dog. On top of those things you even gave us some chicken and duck eggs when we departed. And knowing that you became a VRBO hostess so that you could provide a place for the animals you rescued made us feel even better about our decision to stay at your place. The only suggestion we have is to add a towel hook by the shower so that it is convenient. But that’s a very minor thing. Thanks again and best wishes to you and your family.

This place is awesome

Fantastic hosts. Separate apartment in the basement of family house. Beds excellent. Great shower. Hosts provided not only snacks but fresh eggs from their chickens! They have a super friendly dog, many chickens, ducks, goats, and alpacas. I got to feed and pet and brush them. If I'm ever near Charlottesville again I'll come back here for sure.

Fun Farm Getaway
