  • Durante más de 60 años, Hawthorn Cottage ha acogido a parejas en el histórico Somesville y el Parque Nacional Acadia. Hawthorn Cottage comparte con nuestra casa y Juniper Cottage dos acres bellamente ajardinados bordeados de arbustos de arándanos silvestres. El césped es abierto y soleado, con jardines y árboles de sombra cerca de la cabaña y una cubierta sombreada para observar las águilas y águilas pescadoras residentes de Somesville. Puede caminar a nuestra biblioteca, teatro de repertorio, museo y al océano o al estanque Somes para nadar. Las semanas de alquiler son de sábado a sábado, excepto JUNIO o finales de otoño, cuando podemos ser flexibles.

For two people it is perfect! Small and enough to enjoy a weeks time in such a beautiful place. Very well thought out in every aspect to enjoy your time there.

A wonderful quiet retreat to come back to after a day of adventures. Check in was easy and our hosts were very friendly. Emails with them were answered quickly. I highly recommend staying in this lovely cottage.

Perfect cottage getaway for a couple! We had a great time coming back to our place to rest our feet and heads after long days of hiking and enjoying Maine. Thank you for everything!

Amazing honeymoon

This cottage was an amazing place to stay for our honeymoon. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the cottage and all it had to offer. We saw deer almost every night and the cottage was super peaceful. The location of the cottage was perfect. On the quiet side of the island it got us away from the traffic but close enough to Acadia to get anywhere in 25 minutes or less. Absolutely amazing place to stay and would definitely book again!

Lovely cottage

This cottage had everything we could need or want. The owner lives on the property and is very kind and helpful. You couldn’t ask for a better location. It was very close to all attractions and yet very quiet.

Absolutely wonderful!

Everything about our stay was perfect. Somesville is a great location from which to explore the island; our cottage was so cozy, well appointed and comfortable; and our hosts, Merilee and Ken, were two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. We are sad to be leaving, but we know we’ll be back!

The best yet

Perfectly equipped, centrally located, cozy, comfy. Pleasant helpful owners. Couldn't ask for more and the location is perfect. Oh, and there were almost daily visits by deer, and on our last day, turkey. We plan to stay there again

Anniversary Trip

This was honestly the best vacation we have ever been on. The cottage had everything we needed and it was very cute. We were able to prepare full meals when needed. MDI is very beautiful and we can't wait to come back and explore more of the beautiful area!

Benefits of the quiet side

Somesville is uniquely situated for access to all that busy Bar Harbor and Acadia NP has to offer. But it’s so much more - laid back, tranquil and beautiful. Host Marilee generously shared that knowledge helping me to enjoy the history and explore natural wonders that best exemplify “the quiet side”.

Great little cottage on MDI

Excellent stay! The location is perfect—close to everything in Acadia, yet just far enough to feel peaceful and quiet. Communication was fast, friendly, and incredibly helpful. The cottage is spotless and absolutely charming and the bed was super comfortable. Keep in mind it is a cottage not a big house - still plenty of room for 2 and so much better than a hotel. This was our first trip to Acadia, but fingers crossed we can stay here again for future trips.

July Honeymoon

Property was cozy and secluded, exactly what we wanted for our national park honeymoon! Kitchen was well stocked and temperature was easy to control. The water pressure in the shower could be a little better but in a small place like this it’s to be expected and didn’t affect our enjoyment whatsoever. Beautiful stay!

Quiet and serene accommodations!

The accommodations are tastefully decorated, extremely clean and comfortable as well as welcoming. Communication was excellent, check in was super easy and the location is perfect for exploring the island. The cottage is located in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood which lends itself well to total relaxation. We will be back!

Acadia N P trip

Very nice, cozy house with a relaxing setting. Great outdoor space. Has everything you need inside (even coffee!) Convenient location for hiking in Acadia N P or going into Bar Harbor without the hustle and bustle of staying in Bar Harbor. Host was friendly and very welcoming.

Great little cottage

Great little cottage centrally located between the west and east sides of MDI; made travel to most locations around the island only a 10-15 minute drive. Quiet neighborhood and communicative hosts. I recommend Coffee Matter/Mother's Kitchen just up the road for your daily coffee and pastries.
