Peaceful Cottage with Ocean Access

If peace and quiet in your own home are what you desire, Cranberry View is the perfect retreat to bring the family and escape it all. Nestled by the shore of Western Way, the house offers the visitor plenty of privacy and access to the ocean's edge, surrounded by spectacular scenery. There is easy access to every activity Acadia has to offer, even free public transportation, in season, right from the end of the driveway. Easy convenience to the park, shopping, free public transportation in season, and all the other activities here on Mt Desert Island. About two hundred yards from the coastline. Delightful character with a large yard and gardens surrounding. Wander down to the water's edge, or enjoy nature from the ample yard, listening to the endless chatter among the birds and the sounds of the nearby ocean. A great place for kids and adults to explore all that Mount Desert and Acadia National Park have to offer.

Very nice cottage, it was nice and clean when we got there too. They had they had heat on and was very cozy. Recommend for anyone to stay. I know we will return!

We enjoyed our stay, however, the stair leading to the upstairs bedrooms are really steep, and very dangerous for senior citizens. There was no picture of the stairs, and we were unaware that the bedrooms were upstairs. Also, pots and pans are a little skimpy. A small omelette pan is the only frying pan. Could have used one more medium sized pot, also

This was a wonderful, well-appointed cabin that serves us well while visiting Acadia. It is a little further away from things but provided a peaceful home base which is exactly what we were looking for. We had deer in the yard at all times of the day which was a treat. Anne left so much helpful info in the binder. We did all of the easy and moderate hikes she recommended. There wasn’t anything we needed while there. The stairs up to the bedrooms are fairly steep so just something to keep in mind when booking. We were very happy with our stay in this cute, clean little cabin. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved staying here on this quiet side of the island. Deer greeted us every day and we followed many our hosts wonderful recommendations for the area. The house was adorable and sleeping under the skylight with the stars so visible was awesome!

Location was clean and cute. Bigger than expected from the photos. There are some maintenance needs like the kitchen faucet and shower that leaked. Red squirrels were entering underneath the building by the back door. The windows don’t open in the main room including the sky lights. Upstairs was very warm at night. The outside table & chairs and grill were covered with bird poop. I recommend a large frying pan to cook bacon as the one that was there was too small. We did enjoy the turkeys and deer outside. The keypad was hard to activate. It was a nice stay but there are some things that could be improved to make it a nicer experience.

We had another wonderful visit to Cranberry! We always enjoy staying at this cottage. It has great amenities in the house, and the location can't be beat. We had a lot of fun exploring the property's beach, watching the deer and turkeys as they visited the yard, and using it as a home base for several hikes. It is better than the pictures!

We had a wonderful time staying here as a family. After a day of hiking, nothing beat gathering around the fire pit and watching the stars fill the night sky. It felt incredibly peaceful and relaxing—a refreshing change from the bustling tourist atmosphere of Bar Harbor, which we could still easily access whenever we wanted.

Loved being on the quiet side of the island. Our kids loved looking for crabs and shells at the private beach and wonderland. Access to adventure was excellent. Roasted marshmallows and enjoyed watching the wild life from the big living room windows. Highly recommend!

A very comfortable and cozy cottage! The directions to the place and how to get into the building were easily understandable. There was a very thorough list of food and activity recs. The rooms and beds were comfy. Got to see lots of deer and turkeys! I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay sort of near to Acadia without being around the crowds.

Great Place for a Getaway

We had a great July 4th holiday weekend in Acadia. This was the perfect place to stay in a quiet wooded area and close to everything the island has to offer. The Southwest Harbor fireworks were a highlight of the trip!

Magical location on the "quiet side" of the island

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Cranberry cottage, tucked away on a private wooded lane with walking access to the rocky shore. The house is spacious and lovely. Anne's recommendations were spot-on, from restaurants to hikes, and she responded promptly to a couple minor issues on arrival (finicky dishwasher, fixed very quickly.) Southwest Harbor is a lovely town, and even on the "quiet side," everything we wanted to do on the island was no more than 20-30 min away. Wished we could have stayed longer!

Lovely place, location and hosts!

What a nice home! Comfortable for the five of us. We needed a couple more towels and a little help with our sleep setup and Anna was very quick to help out! The furniture was comfortable. The queen size bed was fantastic! The only small thing was that we love to be cold in our home and the a/c is only in one of the upstairs bedrooms. We were fine, but something to be aware of if you need a more fully air conditioned place to stay. The deer in the yard were wonderful! The location was quiet, beautiful and peaceful. The washer and dryer were convenient and the wealth of information provided about the area was amazing (via email, in the home, and in person)! Watch out for deer on property and the nearby roads and bring water shoes for the private beach. Overall a fantastic stay!! Thank you!
