Beautiful house - but not without its problems
The house is lovely, but it wasn’t without its issues. We are accustomed to having AC, so it was difficult for us at night. There were box fans in the rooms but even on high we were quite hot. I also struggled with the pans - The skillets were oil stained so the food burned every time you cooked with it, even on low. Angie also accused me of staining her skillets, which was super frustrating. One dishwasher was broken, and many bulbs didn’t work, leaving the house very dark. When I kindly asked if she could please send someone tomorrow to fix one of the fixtures (which I mistakenly thought was broken and apologized for) she gave us a 2 star rating in communication for “demanding repairs without reading the book”. That left a really sour taste in my mouth, since I was very polite in my correspondence, and it was an honest mistake. She also accused us of leaving her home in poor condition & gave us 2 stars for cleanliness. “Dishes piled to the sky”, “piles of contacts left on the nightstand”, “moved furniture”. I still don’t know what furniture we moved, but for 2 stars you would think we did something really egregious like damaging or staining the furniture. She did not list any checkout instructions in her book with her expectations, and was disturbed that we did not take the garbage out and clean out the fridge etc. without being asked to, while paying a 600 cleaning fee. Overall our stay was good, but our unpleasant interaction with the host sadly soured our experience.
