Lake-House With The Best View Of Cana Island And It's Lighthouse You Can Find!

Relax in this well appointed two bedroom, two bath home tucked in the Boreal Forest on the Lake Michigan shore in the heart of the quiet side of Door County. The home is located about 6 miles (10 minutes) from Baileys Harbor, 9 miles (15 minutes) from Sister Bay or Ephraim and 14 miles (20 minutes) from Fish Creek. The home is conveniently located near many restaurants, shops, hiking trails, parks and other local attractions.

Outside, enjoy the view from the benches or hammocks along the shoreline, or while sitting on the large deck at the front of the house. Or maybe roast marshmallows around the campfire. With a little luck, you might see a pelican, a bald eagle, a pileated woodpecker, or a seagull dive for a fish. A two-person kayak and two paddle boards are included to explore the lake. If you just want to cool off in the lake, make sure to bring your water shoes; the bedrock beach is rocky.

The open great room features large patio doors and windows looking out to the Cana Island lighthouse and Lake Michigan. The patio doors open onto a large deck bordering the front of the home. On cool nights, enjoy the wood burning fireplace too! The couch, oversized chair and other seating provide ample seating for conversation or watching a movie on the 55" flat screen TV with a variety of streaming services or the Blu-Ray player. The couch and oversized chair convert to a queen and single bed if you need. These pullout beds are comfortable - really; no springs or support bars to stick into your back! There is a large cabinet that holds a wide selection of games, puzzles, movies, and books.

Adjoining the great room is the dining area with a table seating six comfortably.

The dining area opens into a fully equipped kitchen; electric oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and all the equipment you might need. A charcoal grill is available for barbecuing as well (charcoal and lighter fluid supplied).

Two bedrooms. Each with a queen bed and ample storage in the built-in closet storage system. The beds have Casper mattresses. Pillows and bedding are supplied.

One bedroom connects to a full bath with a tub and shower. The second bath has a shower with plenty of cabinet space. Towels and washcloths are supplied.

A very comfortable home with the comfort of the waves to take the edge off of whatever you wanted to leave behind. We relaxed inside and laid on the beach outside enjoying the vibrant stars above. Anyone needing a nature focused getaway should come here.

Adorable place, great view, comfy beds. Kitchen was equipped with everything you need and then some. A/C would have been nice to take some of the humidity out of the house, but the fans helped. Even after the big storm, Steve and Amy worked hard to have the place ready for our trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Serene lake getaway

Can't beat the location for an incredible view of the Cana lighthouse. House is clean, well maintained and has everything you need. Wonderful place to unplug and unwind. Highly recommend for a peaceful haven.

Short stay with bad spring weather

Our stay was short and the weather was not good (rain and high wind the whole time). The view was great but the rocky shoreline made it more difficult to enjoy. The cabin was nice but both showers were pretty bad.

We stayed for three nights and had a relaxing fun time. The weather was clear one day and cloudy. We hiked ant Peninsula State Park and visited the Lighthouse (great view from the top).

Door county getaway

I wanted an out of the way, peaceful place on the water to relax and enjoy a few sunrises. This wooded property was perfect. Well equipped with everything we needed. Indoor fire place was much appreciated at night while playing games and sipping wine. Everything was clean and comfortable.

Just what we wanted!

The house was clean and had everything we needed. The view of the Canna Island lighthouse was delightful, especially at night. We did day trips to the state parks for hiking, took the Washington Island ferry, and enjoyed the local restaurants. The DVD collection at the house was huge, we did one of the jigsaw puzzles, and read the books about the local history. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the water pressure in the showers was great. We would definitely stay here again!

Really enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen was well-stocked, we loved the heated floors, the lighthouse was gorgeous at night, and everything worked perfectly. The only suggestion I have is to update the shower head in the larger bathroom - it was not the best shower experience because it sprays all over and I don’t usually wash my hair every day. Other than that - loved the property and would come back!

Weekend Refresh

The cozy house was a perfect spot for our girls’ weekend. We enjoyed the view of the Cana Island Lighthouse and the sounds of the calming waves. The open concept main living space was perfect for cooking meals (and the heated floors in the kitchen were an extra bonus). The beds were comfy and having two bathrooms was very convenient. I would love to stay here again!

A Great Home with Beautiful Views

My husband and I have done a number of VRBO rentals over the years. This one ranks in the Top 5. It is a comfortable home and one of the better stocked homes. The view of Lake Michigan, even from inside the home, is gorgeous. Everything about our stay was easy. We highly recommend this home.

One of a Kind

Location, location, location...FABULOUS! Steve and Amy's attention to detail is obvious both indoors and outdoors. The accommodations checked all the boxes for the two of us. We used the kitchen for meals and had fires in the fireplace each night. The heated tile floors were a special cozy feature. The best seats for watching a sunrise are down the path from the house on one of the two benches along the water. It is peaceful and awe-inspiring. There is a beach area not far from the house (with no large rocks and stones) to enjoy. Guests are provided information about the many things to see and do in Door County, especially for each season. We were on the walking trails in The Ridges Sanctuary for hours after visiting the Nature Center and Gift Shop. Thankful the 30 acres were preserved. Also, Cave Point County Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park are worthwhile along with many specialty artists studios and boutiques. Your adventure is sure to be one of a kind.

A Wonderful Oasis in the Woods

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this wonderfully appointed house. Its location on the shores of Lake Michigan was the perfect mix between the peace and beauty of nature and a location that was central to all that Door County has to offer. After a day of sightseeing and fun it was a great place to relax and unwind.

A Lovely Haven in the Woods

Beautiful facility - had any amenities a guest might need. The beauty of it all was breathtaking...I was absolutely enthralled by the Cana Island Lighthouse and spent many hours on the deck and the benches by the beach just taking it all in. The cottage was so comfortable! After spending the day shopping/sightseeing on the Green Bay side, it was so nice to return "home" to the calm, serene surroundings of the cottage in the woods.
