We had a lovely stay at the Castle - the room was beautiful as was the food. The staff in the restaurant and those who welcomed us were amazing. Only disappointment was on check out we asked the history of the castle and were told by a very disinterested staff member to "look it up online"! We thought they would have been very proud to talk about the history and when it was built etc. Other than that we loved it!

Glenapp was the last stop before home, on our NC500 honeymoon. The staff as always were delightful & very helpful. The welcome is always special here & there were plenty of help to carry all our unorganised belongings to accomodate us all. This time we had our dog with us & Glenapp's policy suited us well, he had a welcom pack & was made extremely comfortable. Our room was spacious & well maintained. We dont expect dogs to be allowed in the restaurant area & the policy was that Ozzy was aloud to stay behind in the room. We ate in the potting shed of the Azalea, We were greeted by Jen, a lovely chatty, bubbly & profesional resturant manager. As we ate early & the other couples didn't have an issue, she very kindly allowed us to have ozzy sitting quietly at our table. It shouldn't be expected but honestly just the small personal touches & personalities is what make your stay special. We will be back to try our the new "Nest" Many Thanks

This castle is fabulous! For Americans it is like stepping into a Downton Abby set. The staff greet you at the door, take your luggage and from that moment forward treat you like royalty. Not only is this a gated property, but you need your sir name in order for the gate to open! Then the drive up the narrow road just enhances your excitement to see the castle. John was great at showing us around and to our room. He was very helpful in understanding where everything was and how to get around. The option to use boots and coats owned by Glenapp to tour the grounds was an added bonus so you didn’t get your own shoes dirty. The room was spacious, clean and very welcoming. To have the option of taking a full tub was amazing. Surprising was the turn down service given without request - we had already retired but would have loved to have this done for us. In the morning we requested some hot tea to enjoy while in the sitting area of our room. We were given a drink credit by using Expedia, but I am wondering if the dinner and breakfast were already included in the pricing. That was not clear, but we did enjoy a very wonderful breakfast while listening to classical pop music - very Bridgerton. Even without the TV references, this is a quintessential castle experience and I highly recommend staying at Glenapp Castle.

Outstanding welcome

Excellent country house hotel. The greatest asset are the staff who are welcoming , efficient and friendly. Room was immaculately clean. Grounds are beautiful to explore. Will definitely make this an annual visit.

Beautiful floral displays throughout the hotel. Wonderful staff and service. Lovely grounds to walk around. The archery was great fun thanks to George who was a fantastic coach.

This castle is THE dream destination. We went for our Anniversary and everything was perfect from start to finish. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated as were all the public rooms. We felt totally relaxed from the moment we stepped inside. The staff were discrete and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you want to be treated like Royalty, then this is the place for you.

Hidden Gem

The moment you arrive at the cast iron, voice activated front gates you know that this is going to be a good stay! No need to check in, just make your way up the drive to the front entrance where your bags will be whisked away to your room and you'll be treated to quick tour of the castle before joining your bags. From start to finish everything is relaxing and taken care of, even down to the wellington boots and jacket at your disposal to allow a stroll around the gardens in not so clement weather. Food is delicious though a word of caution, leave the denims and t-shirts back at the house - dinner is somewhat more formal. Cannot fault a thing, and we will be back for another visit.

Let us down.

Called me a week in advance. Asked me if I was celebrating a special occasion (our 10 year anniversary). Also, if we had any allergies. Check in great. Place is beautiful. Facade of castle from outside a little tired. After checking into room, noticed a fly and insect infestation later in bathroom. Informed management. They took pictures. Nothing done or followed up. Dinner outstanding, the service is amazing and the staff really are well trained. Almost too much! (007 like with their earphones!). Returned to room, TV not working. To their credit, manager brought another TV - it's 10.30pm now. Still nothing done about insects (I have video and pictures too - review isn't letting me upload them). Breakfast 10/10, again top notch service. Credit to their staff. Went for a walk around grounds. Lovely. On checkout, no mention of issues. Dinner and wine came to £200+ and the overnight stay £300+ For a romantic, overnight experience. To fork out almost £600, I was not impressed. I'm disappointed. I expected big things from this place - we'd been wanting to come here for a long time. Informed hotel of our feedback on checkout survey. It's been a few days, still not heard from them. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Everything great, except that when we booked we informed you that my wife had a breathing problem and used oxygen, and also asked whether you had a lift, to which the answer was yes. On arrival we were given a room on the side without a lift, so my wife was obliged to struggle up and down the stairs. On the side where there was a lift, the sitting room and restaurants required no use of stairs. Obviously you decided to ignore our problem for some other convenience of the hotel management.
