Porters Lodge is a ground floor apartment, part of the Kerrington House Hotel, in the charming Devon town of Axminster. The apartment is ideal for those seeking a holiday in this part of Devon. Comfortably and thoughtfully furnished, Porters Lodge has the added bonus of guests being able to use the hotel facilities. These include morning breakfast, access to the communal lounge with honesty bar and the well maintained grounds which have lots of sitting-out areas. From the apartment, there is access to a small communal courtyard, ideal for a morning coffee. Located in Axminster town centre, where there is a good range of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Surrounded by stunning countryside and filled with charm and character, this attractive market town lies in the beautiful Axe Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasting quaint villages and unspoilt countryside. Celebrity chef and TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall purchased an old inn that once provided the ballroom of the town, and converted it into his very first River Cottage Canteen and Deli (an organic produce shop/market and canteen). He also has his River Cottage HQ nearby in the Axe Valley. Whether you are planning your summer holidays in Axminster or are looking for somewhere to slip away to in the depths of winter for a romantic break away, Axminster and the surrounding area have something to offer you, whatever the weather and whoever you are with.

Axminster is a very popular town, with the resort of Lyme Regis with its Jurassic coastline continuing towards Seaton and the fossil beach of Charmouth. Dorset is also only a short drive away. There are many visitor attractions including the Axe Valley Wildlife Park which is a great family outing, where you can see a variety of birds and mammals. Many National Trust properties are also close by. Situated a few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast, guests can visit towns such as Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Seaton with its famous tramway. Beach 6 miles. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

Suited me very well

I really enjoyed my stay. This property is bigger than it appears online. Very spacious and comfortable. Lots of lovely welcome goodies. Well equipped kitchen. Be prepared to meet a friendly but huge barking dog. I was fine but it might be of concern to some.
