This wonderful woodland cottage sits secluded on acres of ancient rhododendron, laurel, and majestic trees. The Stoney Brook Cottage is VRBO's largest rental on a stream in Brevard.

The 1960's cottage sits next to a brisk stream that tumbles down the mountainside where it has cut its path for centuries. View the mountain fauna along the stream from the covered deck as you picnic in the forest canopy. You can also retreat to the screened porch out back to sip coffee as the song birds enjoy the first rays of sunshine. Cottage does have stairs and is not recommended for the elderly.

The Stoney Brook Cottage is located only six miles from DuPont State Forest with it's incredible waterfalls and over 80 miles of hiking and mountain bike trails and also only six miles from the Pisgah National Forest where you will find the Davidson River which boast more trophy trout per mile than any other stream in the country as well as tubing and Sliding Rock!

Oh yes, the cottage has WiFi high speed internet. There is also a hot tub overlooking the stream, a gas fireplace, a game room with foosball, darts, board games, and cable TV in the living room and in the family room. Over 1600 square feet of heated living space provides you with a king bedroom with walk-in closet and another queen bedroom, two full baths, living room, fully-equipped kitchen, large game room with TV, couch, loveseat & rollaway bed, and full laundry.

When the day is through and you have hiked the National Forests and its waterfalls, you can retreat to your private cottage and still be in the middle of nature's beauty. It is everything you are looking for... Entrance to the cottage is on the lower level which has a bedroom, full bath, family room, laundry room and covered deck with the hot tub. Upstairs is the Living Room, master bedroom, another full bath, kitchen, covered deck and a screened porch. We're sure you will enjoy this cottage for generations to come!

The cabin itself is lovely—very clean, well-equipped (especially with linens and kitchen items), and the paved road and driveway are a big plus for a mountain property. That said, our stay was significantly impacted by a lack of communication regarding winter storm risks. Severe winter weather was forecast for our stay, and I contacted the host in advance to ask about the weather policy and potential issues. Based on the response, we felt comfortable proceeding. Upon arrival, we learned from the host’s father who came to the property shortly after we arrived that a power outage was likely, that the cabin would have no water without power due to being on a well, that the gas fireplace was not working (having a fireplace was important to us so I reached out specifically to ask if it was woodburning like the photos or gas as described), and that the propane tank for heating the lower level was low (which was later filled). We were cautioned that we could potentially be stuck at the cabin for several days and were strongly encouraged to leave, which we did. This information would have been critical to know before traveling. Additionally, several listing photos are not accurate. Appliances, the hot tub, indoor and outdoor furniture, and the fireplace photos do not reflect what is actually at the cabin. The host was responsive to direct questions quickly, but more proactive communication about weather-related limitations and updated listing photos would have been appreciated.

Great little cottage in a beautiful location, close to great hiking and waterfalls! The house had all the basics and the owners were quick to answer any questions. Very comfortable king bed upstairs. Hot tub a great extra. We will be back!

The stairs going upstairs were very steep. It was difficult to move items upstairs and downstairs. The bottom floor had a musky smell as well. The cabin is in a great location. I have stayed in Babbling Brook and Falling Waters cabins previously. They are fantastic!

The picture did not accurately depict the place. After reserving the place, we got the list of cleaning that was expected to be done when we left. They place itself needed a good deep cleaning! After paying a cleaning fee, I did not expect to have to change the bedding for the next person. It also stated, to use the hot tub, you needed to read the info, and sign a form, which were not any place to be found. The road to get to the house was very narrow. Room for 1 and a half cars, so it was a nerve-wracking, getting to and from the house. The owner stated that the key would be left on the dining room table, but it took us about an hour to find where it really was. The kitchen faucets were installed backwards, and there was no mat mat inside the tub, which made it slippery when standing in the tub. If these issues were addressed, and updated photos posted, it would be a lovely place to stay. The place is 2 stories, so if you are elderly, you might find it hard to climb the stairs. There are also little drop offs, from one room to another, that should be marked, as I almost feel more than once. I don't know if the owner lives out of the area, and has someone oversee the places, but if that is the case, they had better find someone new!

The cabin was excellent all the way around! Very close to our family that live in Brevard and to Pisgah National Forest. I especially appreciated the well stocked dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, bath soap, towels and trash bags. We will definitely rent one of your cabins again, as we realized you own all the ones around there. Thanks so much!

Great Brevard Getaway!

This cabin was a great weekend stay. The cabin itself was very dated (old appliances in the kitchen), but it was super well kept up, and the important things had been updated (bathrooms, beds). It was a great fit for the two of us and our dog. We didn't get a chance to use all the amenities as we had a great time exploring the area. We will definitely be back. The only downside is there wasn't a grassy yard for our dog to use, but we made it work.
