"I stayed here recently for business, and found the hotel to be a slightly dated design. Hotel staff and porters were exceedingly helpful, but service was very slow in the dining hall (probably as we were a big group). The hotel very kindly opened the breakfast hall early one morning when we were going on a safari day, and we were pleased to see a full range of breakfast was available then. "I was just coming off a tour and had an extra night to spend in Arusha. Rather than spend the night in the tour hotel I decided to try Mc-Elly's for about 4x LESS the price. The area in the daytime is a bit chaotic (industrial area) but it's the real Africa not what I saw in the tour hotel. As soon as the sun goes down it was very quiet. Loved sitting out on my balcony. "The place is what you pay for I guess. You'd think £60 would go farther in Tanzania but apparently not, Arusha is expensive. Basically, rooms are like prison cells, bathrooms terrible, and it took a few tries to find a room with working aircon. Staff were friendly enough if a little inefficient. What is with having to ask for toilet paper all the time - just have some in the room, its a basic necessity!!!"
