New to the rental market, this warm family lake-home is what you would want if you could retire right now with your entire family! Located on a quiet peninsula of Smith lake, this house features luxurious beds, family room, adult & kids entertainment (karaoke, foosball, smart TVs, video games, board games) basement, and fabulous lake views from every porch. There are three levels of porches including an upper sun deck (star gazing), main deck with large family table, gas grill, fireplace, and ground level porch. Large entertainment kitchen with two sinks, gas range, large fridge/freezer, modern oven and microwave. The tankless hot water heater ensures the last one to shower is never left in the cold. The almost flat yard makes for an easy walk for all ages down to the dock for swimming, fishing and water sports. With nearby marinas (Duskin and Trident), you can rent a boat or launch your own boat.

  • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Smith Lake home-It exceeded our expectations in every way! From the moment we opened the front door, we were impressed. The house is beautifully decorated, impeccably clean & thoughtfully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The ambiance was very relaxing with stunning views & the most beautiful sunsets. We've stayed at several homes on Smith Lake & highly recommend this one above all others. It truly deserves 10/10. No detail or essential was overlooked!HIGHLIGHTS:* Beautiful lot in quiet cove-safe & ideal for children to swim* Easy 5 min drive to Arley for restaurants & groceries* Short walk to boathouse with sports equipment & boating essentials* Fully stocked kitchen with everything needed for cooking and entertaining* Plenty of games for children and families* 3 outdoor decks with ample seating & gathering spaces* Fireplaces both indoors & outdoors* Keurig coffee makers on 2 levels with a fully stocked supply of K-cups* Ceiling fans in all bedrooms* Luxury linens, plenty of bath towels & blankets, and incredibly comfortable bedsThe open layout, outdoor spaces, multiple dining areas, decks, & fireplaces made this home incredibly welcoming & perfect for enjoying family time both indoors and out. Communication with the host was excellent & made the entire process seamless. This was the most fabulous lake home experience and the best rental we have ever stayed in. 1 in a million! We will absolutely be back!

Girls weekend get a way!

This home is beautiful and so inviting! We had our annual girls get-a-way weekend last weekend. We've stayed in a lot of VRBO's and this one is definitely at the top of the list. Booking was easy, communication A+, very clean, so cozy, beautiful views, easy access to their dock and plenty of lake amenities. We'll be back next summer!

80th birthday family celebration

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home on Smith Lake. The home had everything we needed for meal prep etc and lots of space for family to spend time together. The view was amazing and the dock was wonderful. We rented a pontoon boat for the weekend and it was really easy to get to and from the marina. We would absolutely stay at this home again.

Can I live here?

The house feels like a 'home' instead of a 'rental'. The property is so quiet, even with neighbors. The drive was easy and plenty of parking. A lot of lake houses have steep driveways and even steeper walks to the water. This house has a long, smooth driveway and an almost flat walk to the dock/water. Everything in the house is well built. Decorated very nicely. Large kitchen so was easy to cook for the family. Outdoor dining table is special- what a view at dinner! The Karaoke was a hit. My kids brought their gaming systems along and plugged into the 'game area' TV for fun at night. The third story balcony is great for star-gazing!! Would come back even in the winter!

A wonderful stay!!!! Highly reccomend!

An absolutely wonderful stay! My friends (10 adults) go on a Smith Lake trip every year and we FINALLY found the house we’re gonna go back to year after year!! Had everything we needed, great comfy beds, plenty of communal space. We loved that there were many options for spaces to hang out around the house. The hosts and property managers were incredibly responsive and helpful. The dock was awesome and well stocked with toys. We also appreciated that the lot was flat and didn’t have to go down a million stairs to the water. Also the dock is just enough off the main water way that swimming felt more calm and safe! Lastly, the karaoke machine was an ABSOLUTE hit with my friends.

Perfect long weekend and beautiful home

Property is beautiful, perfect location and includes a limitless list of items you need or forgot. The dock included boat lifts, an inner tube, life jackets, 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a water mat and table and chairs. Dock is in the edge of a cove so you are not out in the middle of the lake getting blasted by boat waves so the kids can swim around the deck and parents can relax watching them. We used Duncan Bridge Marina to launch our boat as suggested by owners and it was a short 5 minute or so boat ride to home. Three levels of porches to sit out and look over the water. Kids really enjoyed the game room. I definitely recommend this home for a getaway with family and kids.

Exceeded Expectation

All aspects of this property are ideal. The location relative to Jasper/Curry/Arley, as well as the location relative to big water on the lake. Home is well cared for, very functional, and includes everything you need, and some things you may have forgotten, like beach towels, etc. The view and outdoor spaces are amazing. The dock is well above average, including lifts for vbottom and pontoons, as well as a seadoo lift, plus a nice sized swim platform extension, all nestled in a spot that isn't directly exposed to big wake, so your toys aren't bouncing around should they not be on one of the lifts. We keep our boats on the lake in dry storage, but if you trailer a boat in, Duncan Bridge Marina is very close, offering launch, and fuel services. The property has everything the descriptions states, plus a lot of charm and appeal that's hard to convey in words. Take comfort in planning your trip at this home. Last point, the home is in excellent condition, and I suspect it will stay that way, so if you are looking for a place to host a keg/loud party, keep looking. We had a great Thursday-Sunday with family and small kids and will be going back. It's worth every penny.
