The Yellow Doors `B`

Located in what locals call Northtown, our Arcata home is a perfectly situated home base. You will find several eateries, cafes and a natural food grocery store all within a two block walk. You can access the two bridges over to the Cal Poly Humboldt campus a few blocks away and just beyond campus is the Arcata Community Forest with towering redwoods. Downtown Arcata is just a seven minute walk down the hill where you will find more restaurants and unique shops on the plaza.

The home offers a full kitchen with all the cooking tools needed to cook up a nice meal. We provide local coffee, an organic tea selection, sugar, olive oil, salt & pepper, and a handful of spices.

There are two comfortable bedrooms with queen sized beds, a variety of pillows to choose from, crisp sheets and a down comforter with duvet cover. Each room has a luggage rack and closets with hangers.

The living room has a cozy corner couch, large smart TV with a Bose Soundbar and Wi-Fi. You will find an assortment of games, including a table cribbage board.

Off of the living room is a 3rd bedroom and/or office. An adjusting desk allows for a designated workspace. This room has a full size sleeper sofa with bedding and pillows tucked away in the closet.

The bathroom has a tub/shower with glass doors, bright lighting and a blow dryer.

Northtown Arcata offers a variety of delicious eateries including Phoenix Cafe, Wildflower Cafe, Stars Hamburgers, Japhy`s Soup & Noodles, Northtown Coffee, Redwood Yogurt, Hey Juan Burritos- all within a few short blocks.

Wildberries Marketplace, a natural food grocery store, is right down the street and is a great place to gather supplies for a night in.

If you venture down the hill from this neighborhood to the Arcata Plaza, you`ll find even more dining options, the North Coast Co-op Market and lots of unique shops. On Saturdays, be sure to check out the Farmer`s Market on the Plaza.

The 14th Street bridge over to Cal Poly Humboldt is down the street, making the walk to campus a quick and easy stroll.

This home is in an ideal neighborhood for being on foot, however it is also a great launching off point for exploring the nearby beaches and redwood forests. Please see our guestbook for more information on our favorite nearby activites and destinations not to miss.

This home has two units, with entrances on opposite sides of the house. Both units are vacation rentals and offer similar amenities.

I booked this place for a girls trip in November. We love how convenient most of the restaurants and markets are within walking distance. The location felt safe for us ladies, especially walking around late at night. I personally loved how comfortable the bed and pillows were (please share what the brands are!)Just a side note, for the room next to the bathroom you can hear the heater starting up so if you're a light sleeper that might be an issue. We like how the host have a large umbrella for guests to use - it definitely came in handy during our trip. The house itself is clean and cozy for the 3 us that stayed here. A suggestion for the hosts - a space heater for the rooms would be nice to avoid using the heater ( one of us prefer to sleep in the cold and the rest prefers warmth).

Enjoyed a short stay with my husband and step-son while considering Cal Poly Humboldt as a prospective student. The property is exactly as pictured. Super clean and tidy, new kitchen with beautiful appliances. The bathroom inspired me to redo my own! Comfy beds with cozy comforters and pillows. Smart TV with sound bar to watch shows and wind down after a day hiking and exploring the neighborhood. The location can't be beat. Everything is walking distance. We only stayed 2 nights, but look forward to the next opportunity to visit and be part of such a vibrant community! The check-in and out was seamless, Aubrey (hostess) was very responsive, professional, and kind. We really appreciated the welcome book for suggestions of things to do, eat, and enjoy. It was a perfect size for our little family. We can't wait for our next visit.

Beautiful home feels brand new, super clean. Excellent bedding and mattress lots of high quality throw blankets around too. Kitchen is big and well stocked for pots and pans . I found it easy to find with the directions from the owner the neighborhood is a mix of residential/business and there is a big parking lot with some equipment and the back side of business directly across the street but it felt safe. The shared walls separating the front unit and back unit seem a little thin and sound did travel from the family on the front side to the bedroom but not really a problem.

This home is lovely! It was clean, stylish, and all the things inside were high quality. The kitchen was great for cooking - it had everything you needed including oil and spices! I even took some pictures for my own home inspo since it was so well decorated. The location was ideal. We were able to walk to a grocery store and the downtown area. There's also a gas station nearby which was really convenient as we were doing a lot of driving to the state parks in the area. If I visit again in the area, I would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at many vacation rentals, this by far has been my favorite. Elegant and Cozy!The use of space is exceptional, seems so much larger than it should, decorated beautifully, all of the appliances were updated,, my husband loved the desk, plus the kitchen knives were sharp with a variety of sizes, the Humboldt Bay Coffee you left was delicious ( I also left them a review), the beds and linens were so comfortable. The location has everything you need walking distance. My only miss was there was not a outdoor seating area, but the extra touches to detail was definitely worth it!

Wonderful!

Adorable place within walking distance of EVERYTHING Arcata.

We stayed for several nights in this adorable up-to-date bungalow. It was perfect for our small family and very walkable to anywhere we went in Arcata. It is tastefully decorated and adequately equipped for the bit of cooking we did. The host was easy to communicate with and provided a nicely done booklet of information about the area. I would highly recommend and will stay here again when visiting Arcata.

Arcata perfection

This rental is amazing! My partner and daughter and I stayed for the weekend to check out the Cal Poly campus, and we were within walking distance of the school, the community forest, Wildberries Market, and lots of awesome shops and cafes. The 3rd bedroom/office was perfect for practicing music and working remotely during our stay. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

The Yellow Doors B

Good/prompt communication with Aubrey. Check-in/out easy and uncomplicated. House was clean and well-stocked. Beds very comfortable. Like another reviewer mentioned, the window in one of the bedrooms had a fairly sheer curtain and no blinds, which was a bit unnerving privacy-wise. Our first night was disrupted by a neighbor/pedestrian/transient (?) screaming obscenities outside of the bedroom window for over an hour. Could have been an anomaly, but it was unsettling. And lastly, went to open the window by the front door to enjoy the cool air during dinner and found that it was unlocked. Would have liked to give 5 stars, but the safety/privacy things keep me from doing so.

Adorable little house with central Arcata location

Very cute well appointed little house. Very clean and comfortable for me and my two teens. It’s in a central location in Arcata with easy walking to restaurants and the Plaza. You do hear some street noise but that’s to be expected with a downtown location. There is no laundry but it is a very short distance to the laundromat if needed. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook a meal. My only very minor compliant would be that the door in the bedroom had a window covering that didn’t feel like the neighbors could see through. But having the door there was nice to open and let fresh air in during the summer. The hosts were communicative and helpful although we had no problems during our stay. Overall a nice place and I would stay there again hands down!
