Rustic Luxury Near Charlottesville/Montpelier/Wineries /A Historic Cabin Retreat

Antique log cabin C. 1810, recently relocated and lovingly restored. We are approximately 20 miles from Charlottesville, local to numerous wineries, James Madison's Montpelier, and The Market at Grelen. Here you can enjoy a rustic getaway, with all of the modern features you need to be perfectly comfortable. You will find yourself surrounded by an abundance of wildlife: Deer, Turkey, Foxes, Eagles, Osprey, Herons and more (a bird-watcher’s paradise!). Look out the window and be met with top notch country views- 110 acres of rolling pastures, pristine ponds, and marked walking trails. If you plan to use the trails or ponds, let us know and we will be happy to give you a tour upon arrival! Our trout pond was re-stocked mid-October, 2025 with approx. 800 lbs. of Rainbow trout, averaging between 2-3 lbs. Watch the video tour to see a clip of a past release! Many citation fish are caught from our ponds annually. A sportsman's delight!

For the ultimate in relaxation, try our private 3-person sauna.

There are numerous family antiques in the cabin; therefore, make sure all pets are well behaved.

We had a great short stay at the cabin. Cabin was clean, Wik was a helpful host and communication was great. The property is beautiful and peaceful but convenient to attractions. Kitchen was well stocked for what you need, and beds were comfy. Sauna was a nice treat.

We had a wonderful stay and our host was extremely personable and welcoming. He gave us several recommendations for places to eat (Gordonsville Ice House had phenomenal fried chicken!) and offered tours of the property, which was very expansive. It was well appointed inside and we had a very comfortable and relaxing time. Highly recommend checking out this unique and special property!

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful setting! My family stayed here the week leading up to our daughter's wedding and the cabin had everything we needed to relax as we made finally preparations. Charming cabin in a gorgeous setting

The cabin was beautifully decorated and had every amenity imaginable. The sauna and the fishing pier were a huge hit with our family. We relaxed in the covered porch drinking our coffee in the mornings and hiked in the nearby trails; A perfect family stay. We will be back!

Great place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful. Cabin was very clean and had great bathrooms. Host greeted us and showed us the property at the beginning of our stay and was available on site our entire stay. Will definitely try to book it again if ever in thearea again.

Weekend Stay

We were in the area for only a short weekend for a family wedding at the nearby Market at Grelen. The cabin and its setting are amazing. We enjoyed spending time there on the porch and the surrounding land Saturday morning just taking in the quiet and beauty. We wish we’d had more time. The property is located in a great area to take days trips to several attractions or just enjoy, as we did, the property itself. Wik is a great host, taking time to greet you and checking in to make sure everything is going ok.

Absolutely Perfect!

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at this cabin. It perfectly blends the charm of a rustic retreat with all the modern comforts, surrounded by breathtaking, postcard-worthy views. Although we initially planned to visit a nearby winery, we ultimately chose to stay and explore the scenic trails—and we’re so glad we did. Wik, the owner, is an exceptional host who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. He was always available and quick to respond whenever we needed anything. We loved grilling by the pond, wandering the beautiful property, visiting the horses, and relaxing on the porch in the cozy rocking chairs. We spent our evenings reading by the fire in the stone fireplace and enjoying uninterrupted quality time together as a family. We can’t wait to return for another unforgettable stay!

Perfect home, perfect location and exceptional host!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this beautiful cabin. Everything about our stay was superb! From the moment we arrived Wik was a very attentive host and took the time to give us a tour of the cabin, a Kubota tour of the trails and amazing history on the cabin!! The cabin was a combination of historic charm and modern animeties! The views of this secluded and private cabin were breathtaking. We enjoyed the views of the ponds, horses and wildlife! Can’t leave out enjoying a few beers with the host in world! Thank you Wik for making our girl weekend memorable! We can’t wait to come back!

A beautiful spot for a getaway

We had a great girls’ weekend at this beautiful cabin in Somerset, VA. It was the perfect retreat to relax and get away from the busyness of daily life. We took a drive into Gordonsville and visited Barboursville Vineyards as well. The cabin had the best of both worlds- an old feel with the reclaimed logs and all modern day amenities. The views from the porch cannot be beat. It was a great place to relax and unwind. Wik was a wonderful host too. Thanks again!
