Stylish fisherman's cottage in heart of pretty harbour village, pet-friendly.

  • The East Neuk of Fife stretches from St Andrews down a coastline peppered with small villages, full of character, which face across The Firth of Forth to East Lothian on the opposite side. A jumble of quaint colourful houses lead down narrow winding streets to line the harbours and rocky shores and their distinctive crow-stepped gables, fore stairs and red pantiles preserve the impression of their time as fishing villages that were totally dedicated to the sea. St Monans itself became one of Scotland's busiest fishing ports for many years but, from the mid 1800's the fleet dwindled and the village had to rely less on fishing and more on its heritage, capitalising on its preserved architecture and waterfront (that is still very much a working harbour today). The Neuk has an open plan living/dining/kitchen on the ground floor. Stairs lead to the shower-room and bedroom. The top floor provides the 2nd bedroom. The cottage is set back from the road providing an outdoor space for sitting.

Scottish Coastal Golf Trip

A great place to stay - tidy, well-appointed and charming. While St. Monan's is a touch quiet the location worked perfectly for our trip. The Giddy Gannet across the street was a perfect start to our days.

St Monans break.

Most enjoyable stay in a very quaint seaside village. Well placed for coastal walks and everything this part of Fife has to offer.

Happy days in St. Monans

Lovely stay at this cottage in S. Monans. Beautiful harbour and scenery. Walks right around St. Monans worth it..and saw quite a few hidden viewpoint gems.

Wonderful cottage, beautifully equipped and extremely comfortable. The town of St Monans is quiet, stunning and welcoming. A coffee and breakfast sandwich from the Giddy Gannet across the road and a walk around the harbor is an amazing way to kick start your morning. Steven is a brilliant host, friendly, super responsive very very helpful and does everything to ensure you feel right at home in his home.

Quaint fishermans cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property, in particular walks along the coastal path, that were not too challenging. The accomodation was clean tidy and compact. The beds were comfortable and bedlinen, towels etc clean and of a good quality.

Excellent location

Lovely clean property in the centre of St Monans.We were lucky to experience sunny, dry weather and a garden space would have been ideal.To dsscribe the property as having a patio/ outdoor space is a wee bit misleading as it is a bench seat looking out onto the road, in full view of passers by.

Adorable property, in a beautiful location. It was very clean and the little cafe, Giddy Gannet, was a real treat. While the property has a washing machine as listed, it does not have a tumble dryer as listed, rather it is a drying rack. Noting this in case you need one as with this property being by the water (which is delightful!) it takes a while for the clothes to dry.

Great stay.

Had a great time in a small fishing village. Great for walking, we had a dog. Only downside was Vrbo giving incorrect arrival information, which caused me to leave at 3am when i could have left home at a more respectable time.

Wir waren so gerne in deinem Fischerhaus und haben uns extrem wohl und sicher gefühlt. Vielen Dank für die liebevolle Ausstattung, die schönen warmen Betten, das gemütliche Bad und auch dafür, dass unsere Wohnung schnell warm wurde, wenn es draußen regnerisch und rauh war! Sehr genossen haben wir auch den wirklich kurzen Weg zum Hafen und natürlich unser Café schräg rüber! Nicht zu vergessen deine Fürsorge bei Fragen! Lieben Dank für die schöne Zeit bei dir!!! Overall impression

The cottage was very clean and everything worked however that attic is not suitable for adults. There were not electric sockets there as well as the absence of a mirror - very important for ladies. I think lick up details could also be clarified .

St. Monan's

A lovely little cottage in a quiet St.Monan's. The cottage has everything you need, it is very clean and is in the perfect location for accessing all of the beautiful villages surrounding St.Monan's. It has great access into St.Andrew's as well. Being 7 months pregnant I wasn't able to enjoy the Coastal path in the way we wanted to, so ended up driving from village-to-village (which was still absolutely beautiful and the food on offer at each place is fantastic). However, when baby is here we are planning on returning so we can do it all again on foot. We would really recommend this stay though, and look forward to returning. Out little dog, Alfie, had a great holiday - the beaches are fantastic! Steven was a great communicator/host and the cottage was exactly as described :)

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche in St Monans. Das Haus ist sehr schön eingerichtet und bietet alles, was man braucht. Der Ort ist günstig gelegen für Ausflüge in die Umgebung. Wir waren zum Beispiel in Edinburgh, Sterling, St Andrews und haben einige Outlander-Drehorte besucht ;) und haben und abends immer wieder gefreut, in dieses hübsche Haus zurückzukommen. Man ist in ein paar Schritten am Hafen und auf dem Küstenweg, der in beide Richtungen ein echtes Erlebnis ist. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen - eine echte Empehlung für alle, die das Meer, aber auch sightseeing lieben.We had a wonderful week in St Monans. The house is very nicely furnished and provides everything you need. The location is convenient for trips to the surrounding area. For example, we visited Edinburgh, Stirling, St Andrews and checked out some Outlander filming locations ;) and we always looked forward in the evenings to returning to this lovely house. The harbor and coastal path are just a few steps away, which is a real experience in both directions. We would come back anytime - a true recommendation for anyone who loves the sea, but also sightseeing.
