"It was lovely being at the Alfriston and getting to know its town. The pool outside was definitely the highlight and the sauna and steam room installations were excellent. The interiors were lovely and the breakfast was top notch!! Would highly recommend! Just be aware if you don’t have a car, it’s a bit of mission to get to Alfriston…there’s a bus but only runs at specific times."

"Excellent stay. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were so lovely and their home cooked breakfast was delicious! The property is central to everything and so many options near the property to eat! Rye beach is at the end of the road! Although the weather was a mixed bag we absolutely loved our stay! "Carol and Ceri looked after us very well, beginning with their greeting us at the front door on our arrival. The bed was comfortable and all room facilities excellent (lovely soft towels), except that the bedside lights are not bright enough for old eyes to read by. Breakfasts, prepared by Ceri, were top class; we really looked forward to coming downstairs each morning at 8.30. It was good to be made to feel part of the family, especially as we were able to chat to other guests at the breakfast...

"This is our go-to lodging when attending the opera at Glyndebourne. A wonderful, country house in Uckfield, set on beautiful, expansive private grounds. Comfortably and exquisitely furnished, it is always a pleasure to arrive and occupy the spacious common rooms and assigned bedrooms. As frequently encountered in England, old properties may lack some modern amenities Americans are used to like air conditioning and convenient USB charging ports. "The hotel was in a great location, right on the seafront and within a 10 minute straightforward walk to the Lanes. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and had a higher professionalism than I've encountered recently in London hotels! The room itself was spacious, clean and with a gorgeous view of the seafront and pier. I would definitely stay there again."
