"We were greeted immediately as we entered the hotel. Staff were all friendly and very willing to help in any way. The room was very clean. Great shower, although there is a gap between shower screens which made the floor wet but solved when angled the shower away from the screen. Nice choice of Dove hand wash, shower gel and shampoo. Breakfast was buffet style and a good selection of hot drinks from the vending machine. Nice touch offering “grab and go bags”.

"We had a deluxe room overlooking the street. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom functioned well but ideally would have been a little larger. My partner made use of the spa which she enjoyed and one evening we ate in the restaurant. Overall a very pleasant stay in an excellent location."

"Taj was doing construction and didn’t notify us until a week before our booking, leaving us with little option. The entire lobby was in construction. Dust everywhere near by. We couldn’t have friends meet us there and it wasn’t the experience we paid for. The managers evaded us the whole time regardless of numerous attempts to contact them. Not the level of service you’d expect from The Taj. I will say they eventually, after a lot of pursuit, gave us 10% off. Not worth the hassle.

"Very dated and beware of "Deluxe King Room"...I expected a street/building view as I didn't pay for Garden or River view; however, I ended up looking inside a small dingy courtyard with mechanical equipment. Requested an early check-in as flying on redeye from U.S.: they understandably said they couldn't guarantee and would text me when the room was ready. They never did but I went to hotel at check-in time of 3pm and room was ready. Very, very dated and dark. "

"The room we stayed had bed bugs and we were eaten up big time. We were moved to another room. Staff is very friendly. The owner reported that he is going to take care of the room. Learned a lesson to check the bedding as soon as we enter from now on! This is the very first time this had happened to us. We were naive. Did not think it could be bed bugs! Being very close to Paddington railway station makes the hotel vulnerable to all kinds of infestations and infections. "

"The rooms were very large for Europe and had all the necessary amenities including a Nespresso machine. The only complaint we had was the card system and door locks. We struggled (as did all guests) to get in and out of the hall to the exit. Also the room keys all stopped working the second day for the whole building. Some upgrades are needed in those areas. Otherwise the location was fantastic. "
