"Pretty amazing price for a Gilded Age gem that's still being kept in top shape. It's sort of the Hollywood ideal of what a swanky hotel is supposed to look like. There was a good gym and good bar/eating options right on site (for a quick bite in the morning and a night cap later on). Good gym too. It's located right in downtown Pittsburgh. "We spent 7 nights here in August and had a very comfortable stay. The hotel looks modern and clean and the front desk staff were all really friendly and helpful. The room and beds were also comfortable although it did look like it was due a deep clean (you can see the dust gathering around the edges of the carpet and under tables etc). The bathroom, especially tiles, also looked tired and due renovation. Out of our 7 nights, the cleaners only came once. Admittedly one time was due to us...

"We stayed just one night to help our son move to an off campus house near Pitt. Our room was large and lovely - a grand old building lovingly restored. Parking right there and no extra charge. Just a few minutes from Pitt’s campus. Price was comparable to brand name hotels, but the place is much more interesting.
