"My stay was lovely, the staff even let us check in early as the room was ready as we had a brunch. Everything was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable and the hotel was lovely with a bar and outdoor area. Ordered a pizza from the bar and that was really nice. I would recommend a stay here and no doubt I will be returning."

"A one night stay for us, before catching an early flight from Southend Airport, lovely attentive staff throughout the hotel. We dined in the restaurant which has great views over the airport, the food was equally great. A veey pleasurable but short stay."

"The staff were all lovely. They offered to carry our bags up all the stars to our room at the top and to bring them down when we left. Breakfast was hot and freshly cooked. Served with a smile."

"Perfect for an over night stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Important things very clean, though corners don't stand up to a close inspection. I had a lovely quiet room at the back - a free upgrade from that booked. Nice breakfast offering. Easy parking, but chargeable on road outside."

"Great service and front desk staff were very helpful. Room was very clean and spacious, Lots of food choices nearby, 1 tip would be not to be in a room facing the food restaurants, We stayed facing this way and over a weekend we had the local youngsters driving the cars at high speed, loud music blasting using the horn and doing wheel spins and donuts until 3am. So avoid staying in a room this side of the hotel. Maybe weekdays are quieter. But the hotel it’s self was great and would stay...

"Nice and clean Friendly and professional staff "

"This 500 year old pub is an absolute delight. Perfectly adapted to modern needs. I can’t remember a hotel stay where the staff were friendlier or more helpful. The accommodation, in the modernised stable block, is perfect for a comfortable stay, and both our evening meal and breakfast were of the highest quality. Strongly recommended."

"Very friendly place, very busy in bar area but accommodation separate (& quiet 😊👍)… enjoyed looking round the bar area after breakfast next day, lots of interesting items/photos etc and nice to be away from the ‘corporate’ feel that most hotels seem to have these days. I’m sure we’ll be back."
