"Firstly, let me start by saying we were staying as a couple and didn’t realise it was the school holidays in south east Asia, so this definitely colours my review. The pool area looked amazing when we arrived, but the entire time we were there it was completely crowded with kids - who were having an amazing time and it’s definitely a great resort for families. For us, it was so noisy, overcrowded and you couldn’t get an alcoholic drink until 3pm… and even then, there never seemed to be anyone...

"Got a room that was supposed to have sea view but we only got the horizon part as the lower view was obscured by another block (but only 2 storey). Apart from the above, Lone Pine is a superb resort for those who love basking under the shades of tropical trees and pines too, has well maintained and clean facilities, enjoying the serenity of Batu Ferringhi. Food (breakfast) and drinks were very good too. The play room has large TV screen and we actually stayed up till 1am to watch Champions'...

"We love staying at the Penang Marriott. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We always book a Club Room and find the staff who serve there absolutely A1, truly a home from home! Hats off to Samson and his team. He is a smashing fellow, very engaging and could not do enough for us, when we were in the Club. The Marriott are lucky to have him. "This property is looking fairly tired. We had a superior room with incredible views and lovely high ceilings, so the room was spacious and easy to relax in. It is, however, in need of some maintenance - chipped laminate, water damaged skirtings etc. The staff are exceptional, very friendly and helpful, super respectful. "This is our second stay in this hotel. Location is perfect, nearby to town and also not too far away from Batu Ferringhi area. Although the hotel is a bit old, the staff truly make the difference. Housekeeping staff were very helpful and friendly, providing us with ample items upon request as they knew we do not require any housekeeping service during our stay. "Hotel needs to get more new bath towels and provide wash cloth and hand towels. Also had to ask for shampoo and body wash gel. Towels are very very old. Shower does not work properly. Room gets very hot, ac only works when in room with room key, should have better system. Location was great but won’t stay here again"
