I stayed in Lyall Melbourne. That was a true 5 star boutique hotel in a very nice area. Ok, prices differ between Sydney and Melbourne, but...

I stayed 8 nights for a work trip and whilst I loved the small kitchenette and living area, I found the bed and pillows uncomfortable, the temperature hard to control properly (woke up cold repeatedly), and the street noise from the light rail, sirens, and general street noise (roadworks, people socialising) woke me often. I thought I’d use the pool but didn’t (is is next to and visible from reception). My fav pick for Sydney CBD...

"I stay at Shangri-La Sydney regularly for business and usually choose the Horizon Club. However, check-in is almost always delayed. Even though check-in is 3 PM, I’ve had to wait until after 4 PM multiple times, including this visit. What’s disappointing is not just the delay, but the unprofessional attitude and lack of concern. The lounge service has also declined. During both evening service and breakfast, staff didn’t take orders properly, coffee was delayed, and there was no apology. I...

"Things got stolen on two occasions. I asked the staff to check the cctv and they seemed very reluctant and then agreed to. They said where I was located was the one area they don’t have cctv. Overall I felt quite unsafe when staying there and the staff didn’t take my concerns very seriously at all, I think because they’re all travelling themselves and staying at the hostel. It doesn’t seem like there is any authority or professionalism. Other things. No towels to rent, but then saw others...
