I rarely write reviews, but my experience at the Quality Inn in Ruther Glen was so appalling that I feel obligated to share. I had booked two rooms for two nights, but after one terrible night, we checked out early.
First, we encountered rats in the room — not once, but twice. I was shocked to see them scurrying around. On top of that, the towels were filthy, and the floors were dirty. It was clear that the room had not been properly cleaned. The room had a lingering unpleasant odor that I could tolerate, but the staff was a whole other issue.
When we asked to be moved to a different room due to the rat issue, we were told to come back later after check-out time to see available rooms. I did just that, only to find no one at the front desk. After ringing the bell, a woman came down from another motel room— presumably someone involved with the property. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She claimed they had already given us keys to a new room, which was a complete lie, and then told us they couldn’t accommodate us. When I pressed further, she rudely told us to stop talking, shushed us with her finger, and coldly stated, “I’m going to check you out.” Out of respect to her as a woman, I didn’t escalate the situation and simply agreed to check out.
This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. I am extremely disappointed and will never stay here again. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
