"This place has a lot of character and was a great experience. We didn’t book the Irori dinner, which I regretted very much. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, so as expected it was a bit spartan. However, the main sitting area was lovely and interesting and the staff were top notch - warm and accommodating. If you are looking for character and tradition over modern comforts, you will enjoy your stay very much. It’s also just a short walk to Gora station where you can hop on the cable car and ropeway as...

"Great onsen hotel with incredible food but be warned that the location is a bit remote. It’s about a hike uphill of 15-20mins from the nearest bus stop and it’s quite difficult to get an uber/taxi from nearby stations. As well compared to other resorts, their shuttle service is not a reliable means of transportation.
The staff are amazing but unfortunately, you can tell they’re stretched a bit thin. I got there about 2 hrs early and there was no one at reception. I had to drop my backpack there...

"Very nice property. The home is very clean and rather spacious. Very close to nearby public transport which makes it very easy to get around. Location is rather walkable as well to other restaurants and coffee shops. Enjoyable more immersive experience to the neighborhood. There's a great little coffee house literally seconds away. Lovely amenities in the home. Personally loved the shower and large bathtub. The beds were good, but were very loud and creeky even with subtle movements. Since there...

"An amazing house with great volume, vaulted ceilings, 4 bedrooms and a private onsen bath.
The house was beautiful, perfectly located near all the exciting restaurants and sights around Hakone. A perfect place to spend a few days and I wish we had more time to truly enjoy it fully.
Lots of windows, a beautiful garden, gorgeous interior with wood paneling everywhere and some rooms with traditional tatami mats.
Highly recommend !"

"The stay would have been better if the staff were better prepared to accommodate western guests. The sandals were too small, the robes were for a man and woman even though it was two men staying in the room. The buffet food selection was the highlight but they food wasn’t kept hot enough and they need more salt and pepper especially for the beef.
What I am most upset about is that the property did not honor the room and beverage credit from Expedia. I will be contacting customer service to...

"While the service and location were both excellent, I was disappointed to be put in the dog wing literally. I didn’t book a dog room. Don’t have a dog. Chose this hotel for views which were on the east wing our room was in the west aka dog wing.
Spa service was fantastic! Onsen experience was super relaxing.
All good except for being with dogs!"

"設備は綺麗でドリンクバーやリラックスできるスペースもありよかった。
アメニティはビジネスホテル並み、お水やコーヒー等付いておらず残念。
食事は普通。外国人向けにふっているせいか、揚げ物が多くワクワクする感じはなかった。
風呂の脱衣場が少し狭い感じがしました。
スタッフのサービスも可もなく不可もなく
評価が高いお宿だった割にはもう少しと言った感じ"

The rooms are big and the private onsen was the perfect way to start the morning and relax after a day outdoors. Beer on tap & you can mix your own drinks. Non-alcoholic drinks also available and refreshing."
