"Fantastic venue with a great vibe and well furnished/kitted social space. The free tea, coffee and pastries (and breads) were above our expectations and helped to set us up well for our days out in the city. The range of board games and books was also a pleasant surprise. "Awesome place to experience a more traditional Japanese house! Tatami mats were really authentic and impressive, with sliding doors and the works! The living room table has a gap under so no need for sitting on knees. Bathroom was very impressive with great shower and massive bath. Toilet in a separate room so perfect for groups. "My wife and I traveled to Kyoto as part of our first trip to Japan and we both agreed, without a doubt Villa Sanjo Muromachi was a - of not the - highlight of our trip. A beautiful boutique hotel with spacious rooms, beautifully decored that make you feel right at home in the heart of historic and charming Kyoto. We opted to have breakfast served to our room and specifically the Japanese version which we did not regret. The service is top notch and especially the bartender. First rate cocktails...

"Excellent service. Our children got sick during the trip and the concierge found a doctor for us late evening. Concierge explained everything to the doctor before we got there so we were able to get treated even though our Japanese was limited."

"The staff were extremely helpful, storing luggage, arranging luggage transfers and offering use of their phone for a local call. Kids loved the bunk-beds and it was definitely handy having an in-room washer-dryer. The room was comfortable for a family of 4 but we were disappointed at there being no good views as the hotel is only a few stories high, in a quieter street. I had high expectations due to the Mimaru brand having great reviews especially for families, and while it ticked all the boxes...
