"This bed and breakfast excelled beyond all expectations! The property is exceptionally beautiful with many historic features scarcely seen except in museums of great old houses. Our host couldn't have been more wonderful and he helped us out after a long ride on the Erie Canal Trail. The amenities were excellent. I would go to Fort Plain just to stay there again. Let me not forget to mention the rooms are cozy, impeccable and lovely decorated by Ginny who is true artist. I do plan on visiting this area of the Adirondacks again and the Balsams will be base camp when exploring this beautiful area. "

"This particular Microtel was clean, comfortable, and convenient and the hotel staff was very friendly and accessible. We would stay here again when in the area. . Definitely recommend keeping the second lock on the door at all times because despite the "do not disturb" sign hanging on the knob, housekeeping let themselves in without knocking. Never had that happen before. "
