We had the most amazing ime during our stay at Les Sources de Caudalie. The staff was all very polite and friendly, breakfast buffet amazing and the hotel installations are just as stunning as pictures. Defnitely would come back.

Disappointing Experience Les Sources de Caudalie

Our recent stay at Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux was riddled with significant issues that fell far short of a five-star experience. Despite its prestigious Relais & Châteaux status, our visit was marred by mistakes and poor service. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a "welcome back" note, although neither my wife nor I had ever stayed there before. This mistake caused unnecessary suspicion and tension, as my wife thought I had previously visited the hotel with someone else. Our room was located a mile away from the main building, with no amenities such as a pool, bar, or restaurant nearby. This inconvenience is unacceptable for a five-star hotel where guests expect easy access to facilities. Dining was equally disappointing. When we tried to eat at Rouge, the hotel's small restaurant, it was closed for a private event despite two-thirds of the space being unoccupied. We were denied service, leaving us without dining options. Additionally, although the hotel advertises 24/7 room service, this was not available in our room’s location. The cleanliness and housekeeping standards were appalling. Instead of changing coffee cups, the staff simply rinsed them in the bathroom sink. Such a lack of proper hygiene is unacceptable and concerning for guests. The overall service was poor, with staff displaying a dismissive attitude towards our concerns. This indifference was especially frustrating given the €700 per night rate we paid. Avoid this hotel!

Regarding your arrival, we acknowledge that an error occurred with your welcome note, which was prepared for a returning VIP even though you had never stayed with us before. Upon your departure, we had already extended our apologies and offered complimentary breakfasts for the entirety of your stay as compensation. As for the location of your room, you had booked via Expedia for a stay at Le Thil, located 1.5 km from the main estate. This information was clearly indicated in your booking confirmation and did not seem to pose a problem upon your arrival. We regret that the distance from the main facilities affected your stay. Concerning your dining experiences, we informed you upon your arrival of the importance of reserving in advance due to high demand. Although we managed to accommodate you at La Table du Lavoir despite a fully booked service, we unfortunately could not do so for your final evening. Despite this, we offered to prepare a basket with hot dishes to take away, which you accepted. We regret the risotto was forgotten, which was quickly corrected by our team. We are quite surprised by your remarks regarding cleaning and hygiene, as this does not align with our usual standards. Our teams are trained to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and service, and we regularly conduct rigorous quality checks. However, we take your feedback seriously and will redouble our efforts to ensure an impeccable experience for all our guests. We are also sorry that you perceived a dismissive attitude from our staff. Our teams are generally recognized for their professionalism and dedication to providing warm and attentive service. We have also tried to contact you via Expedia to obtain more information and better understand your expectations. We hope to have the opportunity to discuss further with you to restore your confidence.
