The place was wonderful! Plenty of room for all of us. There were 9 adults and 5 children. The hot water was off and on but we figured out that we just have to space out the showers a little bit more. The seaweed was not an issue. They cleaned it up every morning. There is an amazing reef not too far out and boats, paddle boards, and snorkeling stuff was provided . We got to see baby turtles right on the beach!! Although they have laundry service there is not a washer/dryer that is free to use. Highly recommend the chef! It was great food for a reasonable price. Also, the massage services are some of the best massages we all have ever experienced. Overall a great experience!

The property was as advertised. Our group (family) of 11 had a great time. We enjoyed several meals cooked by Gaby & Christina and had great service from Roger the manager. Our group ranged in age from 20-78. There are three bedroom on the ground level, one bedroom on the second level (large master), and three in the casita. Air conditioning worked well. There was plenty of room for everyone. The first night I asked for a lighter (fire stick) to light some incense I had brought and there wasn't one in the house, but one appeared later that night. Gabi noticed the makeshift volleyball net we put up and a couple of days later a real net appeared (it was left under the stairs - where you will find a plethora of masks, snorkels, swim shoes, life jackets). Gabi also appeared with an electric pump when we were blowing up the giant beach ball we brought. The pool is shady in the afternoon so we were able to spend many hours in it without getting sunburn during some epic pool volleyball tournaments. The only disappointment was the sargassum (seaweed), but that was not a fault of the house and we knew about ahead of time (hence the incense). We were still able to kayak and paddleboard and had planned for Cenote swims and snorkeling at Yalku.

Beach paradise

This is an excellent rental in Akumal Sur. It easily accommodated my group of 12 people (with room to spare). I highly recommend it. On arrival, Gabi (house caretaker) had already purchased some starter supplies and made a delicious chicken fajita lunch on the next day. We only used Gabi and Cristina's cooking services on two occasions. Although their menu is limited, the food was well prepared. For our other meals, we either used Chef Daveed catering (which is consistently excellent) or ventured out into Tulum/Akumal. On arrival, the house was clean. The furniture was in good condition and beds comfortable. The pool--although not heated--was great. If there is a critique, it is that the house caretakers were not proactive in cleaning the interior of the house. When I've rented other houses in the area, the caretakers would refresh the house every day (dishes, empty bathroom trash, sweeping, replenishing towels). It took a few days into my rental for me to realize that I needed to ask for these services. Once I asked for these services, it happened (and they did a great job)...but I wish that I knew this info at the start of the rental (which is why I am sharing my experience).Overall, this is a terrific rental. There's direct water access in front of the house. The snorkeling in front of the house can be amazing (on sunny days). Bring water shoes. Enjoy!

Fantastic Stay At Casa Texana

We spent a wonderful Christmas week at Casa Texana. David at Akumal Direct was amazing with help scheduling excursions and responding to all our questions. Gaby and Christina cooked fabulous dinners for us (breakfasts too!) We also appreciated visits from Roger to make sure everything was well.We would not hesitate booking again and are looking forward to our next Akumal vacation.

Carona Beach Living

Incredible house, staff, and experience with a beach view that could be in a Carona Commercial. The staff (Gaby and Christina) were there for everything and made fantastic dinners and breakfast. The spread out design allows for individual time and the beach/pool are perfect for groups. The snorkeling right off the beach is some of the best in the area. We will be back.

Beautiful location

We were celebrating a 50th birthday with friends. The hosts were kind and accommodating. We could have used a change over in towels and maybe bedding but overall we all were extremely happy with our trip and the accommodations. We did reserve the chef services and that was so convenient and nice.

A slice of Patadise

The home was all.it said it was and more. Staff was warm and always helpful. We had a rental car but spent most of our time relaxing at home, which speaks to the ultra inviting and peaceful surroundings. Overall great experience. Will definitely repeat.

Fabulous and a must stay!!!

The location was amazing! The home was fabulous and clean. Everyone that worked on the property was so nice, accommodating and curious. Gabby is a fabulous cook and we had our best meals upstairs on the patio with his culinary delights- what a cool menu he put together! All in all don’t even think about it and book the property you will be happy!

Best option for group stay in Mexico.

We stayed at Casa Texana in November. Weather was great and private beach was perfect and probably the nicest beach in the area. Close to tourist activities (turtles, cenotes, Tulum, golf, ruins). Staff Gaby and Cristina are great and will prepare food for you if you want for a small fee per meal. Fee is per meal and not per person so it's good if you're a big group. You decide upon arrival which meals you want and what time. They will also get groceries and mix drinks. Perfect for groups of 6-10 people. This is a gated community with security on the beach.

A few tips

Have the caretakers (Gaby and Christina) do your shopping and cook for you. For nine people we spent $950. This included 2 meals per day for 5 days. When we went out to Taverna or Lol Ha (both delicious) the bill was around $450 for 9 people. Granted this included drinks, dinner and dessert. Order your groceries online and have them waiting when you arrive. However, consider your shopping list after you decide when to eat out, have the caretakers cook for you (they also shop for the days meals) or if you are cooking at the house. Do prepare to be asked for tips for EVERYTHING. We arrived with $20’s and (shocking) no one has change. So you are either tipping $20 or zero and no one wants to be cheap. Download WhatsApp. Everyone uses it there. Find a taxi driver you trust and save his/her number. We usually paid $20 for a taxi, each way, for the ride to/from Akumal, no matter how many passengers. The town is small but there are several neat shops and places to eat. We walked to town one day on the beach. It is a long walk in my opinion and I would not recommend it for everyone. It’s over a mile. I would recommend the ATV’s, Cenotes and Monkey Sanctuary. Take bug spray because the mosquitoes are relentless on the jungle tour. At the house they are almost non-existent. The guide book in your house explains that a tip for good/great service from your caretakers should result in a $200-400 tip. Be prepared because we ended the week with almost zero cash to tip them with. The house is beautiful and steps from the beach. The pool is right out the back door and was our primary choice due to the seaweed that builds up each day on the shore. Dedicated workers are constantly carting it off but it is endless. Kayaks and paddle boards are provided allowing you to stay above it and get past it, but most days swimming from the beach requires navigating through 10-20 feet of seaweed floating on the surface. The beach sand is nice but doesn’t extend very far into the water. Beyond about 5 feet it turns rocky and makes some kind of water shoe a necessity. Our only complaint would be that there are only two rooms with comfortable beds. The two twins as well as the guest room on the first floor are hard as a rock. By contrast, the bed in the other downstairs bedroom had me noting the brand so I could shop for one when I got home. All in all it is a great house, the housekeepers are amazing and the location is tranquil and safe.

Amazing except for rain and seaweed

This really is an amazing property! We got unlucky with the weather and the sargassum seaweed. But the property management was excellent and the staff did well. We enjoyed a few prepared meals that were delicious. They even arranged for a complimentary meal! They arranged for a shuttle to pick us up from the airport and for a rental car to be delivered to the house. It made things so easy! It was a wonderful week in Akumal!

A Little Slice of Heaven

We have stayed in the areas between Playa and Tulum a few times. This was our first time to Akumal. Our favorite spot by far! The house is located on a peaceful bay just minutes away from the town of Akumal, restaurants and the grocery store. The concierge service was amazing in getting us a rental car, airport transfers and groceries for our first day. Gabi and Christina were on sight and great. It ended up just being my husband and I so we didn't really need their services that much, but they were sweet and friendly. They did cook us fajitas the first night which were delicious. The only complaint we had was we felt like the house needed a deep cleaning. Other than that it was perfection! We did not want to leave and even extended our stay for another night. We will definitely be back!

Paradise Found!!

Anniversary trip

My husband and I decided to renew our wedding vows in Tulum. Our stay here was Amazing. Cristina and Gaberial went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The house was amazing and everyone didn't want to leave. We stayed in the pool and had multiple days swimming in the ocean. I will definitely be booking another stay at this property again.
