"We stayed only 1 overnight on the way down from scotland. We could see lot of people staying for visiting the lakes. The hotel is in a very nice location. They are also pet friendly and they provided us a towel and a bowl for the dog. We highly recommend both breakfast and set menù dinner which was very nice. Room was clean and bathroom looked recently renewed."

"An amazing stay at the Dale Head Hotel! Beautiful location and well-manicured grounds to walk around. There is access to the lake from the property, but not easily - the path is a little over-grown. The Manager, Dale, was lovely and could not have been more helpful. We were there to hike Helvellyn, and he advised us that Swirls Car park (beginning of the hike) is easily accessed from the hotel by a woodland footpath, rather than the main road, or paying for the car park. "Excellent place. We stayed in room 40 in the annexe for families. It has a big and comfortable main bed and bunk beds for kids. Clean and airy, very large room for family with great size bathroom. Pub food was excellent we had the chicken for dinner with wine all good, and sticky toffee pudding was generous size two could share. Overall a great place and convenient close to grasmere, Ambleside and the zip World. Great stay very pleased."

"This is an older hotel in a gorgeous location right on Grasmere Lake. The interior has been modernized, which some traditionalists lament, but it is very comfortable. There is humorous, whimsical art throughout the facility. The large spa is a real plus. Breakfasts are ample and offer plenty of options. Large bathtubs in the rooms are very nice. Our shower stall often smelled musty, but this could be relieved by leaving the door open. A full length mirror in each room would be a good addition....

Dining room was a little fusty and in need of a some TLC and the evening meal was a bit overpriced for what it was but still an overall charming stay in this gorgeous location. "

"I stayed for two nights (Friday & Saturday) at Craglands Guest House in June 2026. The host, Eldon, was very friendly, helpful and hospitable. The rooms are clean, spacious and the beds are perfect for a pair of weary trekker legs at the end of the day. The guesthouse is a stone’s throw (4 min walk) from a pub which was great for the football. Keswick town was around 15/20 mins walk or an easy 5 min drive - perfect location for any stay you’d like to plan in the area. I would definitely...

"Wonderfully authentic Lakeland Inn.Our stay was peaceful with so many opportunities for walks straight from the door.Limited options available for dinner, would have appreciated more choices.cooked breakfast was very good but some yoghurt, fruit would have been welcome.Selection of beers at the bar was very good.The staff work extremely hard but we thought an extra member of staff would have helped to reduce waiting times at dinner and breakfast"
