"The hotel is on the Thames but that's about the only nice thing about this place. Be prepared to walk along dark narrow hallways and up steep stairs. If you like Victorian boarding houses then this is the place for you. I booked in on a hot night, no air-conditioning. I managed to open one window which almost came off its hinges. They were kind enough to provide a plastic fan that circulated the hot air around the room. I slept and woke up and went for a lovely walk down the Thames then packed...

We were at Ascot during the day and came back to the Royal Foresters for food and football in the evening, and honestly everything was spot on. Check‑in was smooth, the room was lovely, the staff were brilliant, and the atmosphere for the match was perfect. Breakfast in the morning was huge and delicious. All in all, a solid 10/10 and we’ll definitely be back again next year."
