"Lovely apartment in a historic building, ideally located just outside the city centre, but within easy walking distance of all places of interest in York. Nice touch of leaving a bottle of bubbly in the fridge - a good sign that the hosts are attentive. The apartment itself is well furnished and equipped, and really does feel like a home from home. Overall, thoroughly recommended."

Having the fridge and mictrowave in the room was very convenient for keeping snacks and meant we didn't have to eat out for all three meals. Danielle and Tarquin were helpful and gracious hosts. "The Dean Court is a charming boutique hotel that was completed in 1865 as Clergy residences for York Minster which the hotel is in the shadow of. Because you are staying in a heritage building there can be some charming challenges such as creaky floors and low clearance doorways. Despite that the positives far outweigh any challenges you may encounter. Everything is walkable from the Dean Court and there are several great pubs feet from your front door many of which offer a Sunday Roast menu....

The breakfasts are pretty much set with some exceptions if you don't like something, the chef tries to accommodate when it's possible which is a great thing to be able to offer. The owner June does a great job with keeping Ascot House friendly and accessible to all people. We had a lovely time staying here and visiting York."

"Great "boutique" hotel - and not super expensive - easy walk from the train station (and as an added bonus, close to the river and inside the city walls). Rooms were clean and very quiet. Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant (and as a bit of an aficionado, perhaps the best fish and chips I have ever had). I had no idea York had so much to do - if you wanted to explore in depth, you could easily spend a week! Walking the walls alone, and taking it all in, could easily take a half day, and...
