Enjoy your time just feet from the lake on the deck or in the enclosed porch. The home offers a great room with a knotty pine cathedral ceiling and a log staircase that goes up to a loft area that's an ideal place for unwinding from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Each of the 3 bedrooms along with the private loft are decorated in rustic design. RESERVE Carefree Creek at Stepaway Vacation Rentals for a true Northwoods experience!

The sandy frontage at Carefree Creek Cottage is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for swimming for the kids and the lakeside fire pit is a great place to gather at the end of a fun-filled day. There are 2 piers for docking your boats and for fishing off of. Little St. Germain Lake is a 986-acre lake with a maximum depth of 53 ft. It's known as a very good fishing lake and has good numbers of panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and musky.

Family Vacation

We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider coming back. We loved our time on the lake and made amazing memories. The bathrooms are small and have very little water pressure but otherwise it’s a nice clean little cabin.

Great cottage

Carefree Creek cabin was a great find for my family of four. Kathy, the host, was a great first contact. Right on the water with an amazing view, it includes a neat island close by that was very convenient to visit with the kayaks ‘hidden’ in the shed. Eagles/Ospreys overhead every day hunting for their meals while we enjoyed the mostly sandy space in the water between the two docks. An extremely clean, peaceful tiny creek is right next to the cabin and feeds into Little St. Germain Lake. Lots of natural light in the front to open it up quite a bit given the loft arrangement (which was great for our active son). Perhaps geared more toward the snowmobile set, in my opinion understated as a summer gem. My only complaint is that is does not offer internet/wifi. A bit of a mistake at this price point vs what we typically encounter renting in the area. Cellular data still not reliable enough at that location for someone who really needed it.

Super peaceful week at the lake!

First time at Little St Germain Lake and we loved it. So many bays to explore. This house worked great for my family of 5 - super clean, beautiful views, comfortable furniture. We rented a gorgeous brand new pontoon boat from the property manager which was so handy as it was waiting for us at the dock. Great swim access, close to grocery and restaurants. Super helpful property manager. No wifi, which was a bummer, but blessing in disguise! A great week!!

Eagle View.

The big pine by the lake had a resident eagle that “talked”to us. Didn’t have a nest there. Enjoyed fishing off the piers. Used the two kayaks tho we weren’t told about them ahead of time. Collected wood from the side of the roads and had great fires. Inside space big enuf for seven of us at some times. Could control the temp. Had two crock pots tho the info said none and we hauled one up there. Could use more small spoons. Didn’t have WIFI and that was a biggy. TV hard to understand. It was a great family reunion. .

The home was exactly as shown on VBRO. Great location. Fifty feet from car. Fifty feet from piers. Pontoon was there ready for us. New neat boat with all extras. Excellent time. WIll be back in Spring

Carefree Creek Cottage Comments

The property is in a good location on Little Lake St. Germain. Some of the furniture was different than pictured, but all in good condition. Few of the neighboring cottages were occupied so it was very quiet, which we appreciated. Everything was very clean. Enjoyed our stay very much. The steps to the loft were very steep and it is totally open to the morning light, so no one wanted to sleep up there. However, there were enough bedroooms on the lower level for our family.

Couldn't ask for more

Our family really enjoyed staying at this property. The cabin itself was as described in the listing and the location was perfect. We also rented a boat while we were there and we loved that as well. It was so easy---we arrived and the boat was already sitting at the dock. We were amazed at how many deer we saw along the roads as well as the ones right in the neighborhood and behind the cabin. Lots of nature to enjoy here! The fire pit was perfect for roasting s'mores. I had a slight problem with the billing (my credit card payment) and Hiller was very understanding, nice, and patient about helping me fix the issue. Every person I talked to was friendly and professional. All in all this is somewhere we'd really like to come back to.
