Built in 1895, this oceanfront lodge sits directly on the Atlantic on a secluded stretch of Crescent Beach — one of the most private and unspoiled beaches on Florida's east coast. Two screened porches face the ocean, the entire home is on one level with no stairs, and the beach is just steps from your door. A historic, character-filled escape unlike anything else on this stretch of coast.

    The Space

    The Historic Lodge at Summerhaven is one of a kind. Built in 1895, this oceanfront retreat has been welcoming guests to a stretch of Crescent Beach so secluded that guests have described it as their own private beach. Two screened porches open to the ocean air — sit outside, listen to the waves, and let the outside world go quiet.

    Everything about this home is on one level with no stairs — easy for every member of the group to move through freely. The beach-style wood paneling, ceiling fans, shuttered windows, and collection of framed coastal art give the lodge a genuine character that newer vacation rentals simply cannot replicate. Central air conditioning and modern amenities make the stay comfortable without breaking the historic charm.

    Inside, the bedrooms branch off a central corridor so everyone can spread out and choose their own space. The living areas are relaxed and comfortable — made for reading, board games, and gathering at the end of a long beach day. A dedicated workspace is available for guests who need to stay connected.

    Kitchen

    The kitchen is fully equipped and detached from the main house — a feature of the original 1895 lodge design. Refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, and coffee maker are all included.

Historic Beachside Retreat

This home is so charismatic! We love its old comforts and charm. The location is perfect for kids with lots of beach space to let them run. We will certainly be back :)

Great property! Some dust and slightly dirty kitchen but overall a fantastic place. The door code did not work when I arrived so that took about 30 mins to trouble shoot with Vacasa and their local person. But once I was in contact they were quick to help and resolve my issue. I would definitely stay here again!

Very cool old house with lots of history and character, but fleas in the kitchen ruined the whole experience.

The location is the best part of this place. The house needs extreme care. There are several areas where nails are sticking out of the boards which caused myself and several of my children to hurt ourselves. There are several spots where the boards move against any weight and I feared someone would break through the board just by walking. There are also major gaps in some boards where you can see straight through. The beds are definitely not queen sized, and are most likely full sized and extremely uncomfortable. The description for the bunk room caused confusion as it read "2 twin bed and twin bunk beds," in reality it is only a twin bunk bed. While the porch areas are really nice and a great place to spend time at through the day, the porch slants downwards. This was a pain with small children that drop things. A snake also came onto the porch, which is not an issue within the host's control, but it made me nervous to continuously have to walk off the porch to retrieve the dropped items. I also messaged the host about the door code not working and a missing knob on the stove and only received a generic response in return. Overall, this place is only slightly above camping in my opinion, but loved the location to the beach. So emphasis on the "historic' part of the house, but if simple is right up your alley, then its fine.

Real Florida, Memories Revived & New Ones Made

Thanks to the owners for making their lodge available to others. The house reminded my wife of the Florida family lake house where she grew up spending summers. It reminded me of my grandparents Florida Cracker ranch house. This place has character. We felt completely comfortable and at home. The property is left in its natural state which is great to us because it preserves the dune ecosystem. If you want manicured lawns and five star hotel type atmosphere, don't stay here. If you want a more authentic rustic quiet Florida coastal setting with the ocean out front and the Matanzas Inlet/River nearby, this is the place for you. For us it was wonderful! We hope to come back again in the future.

DO NOT STAY HERE in the Summer. On the 1st day of our 5 night vacation, we reached out to property manager and told them the inside temperature of the house was 80 degrees. After being told the next day that the AC unit was inspected and needs to be replaced…. They did nothing to fix the issue We were ghosted the rest of our visit! 80 degrees every day inside is hard to handle in the hot summer. The property management Vacasa is TERRIBLE

Gorgeous Location, House is not what is pictured.

Check in was easy. This home sits in amazing spot between the ocean and the intercostal waterway. The hurricanes have changed where the water is behind the house but it is still an easy walk to the water, with a wide open beach area for the kids to play. We absolutely loved the area. The home was also easily accessible with a ramp, for my elderly family member. The house itself needs some major TLC. We were expecting the historic, rustic home listed but the house was not as pictured. It has splintering floors, separating walls, what looks to be a water damaged kitchen, moldy/dirty furniture and there was even a window pane broken in one of the rooms. The home has an odor, which is partially expected with the age, but it was quite strong. * The road to the home was also washed out by a hurricane and is being repaired.

I sent this to the management company early Saturday morning. Haven’t heard a word and I’m very unhappy. This place was a dump not to mention the code violations, smell and filth. Good morning, We vacated this property early this morning. It was not clean, the refrigerator smelled like old fish, the bathroom floor is a safety hazard and the paper towels around the pipes in the second bathroom is not what we paid for. You can actually see the ground through the bathroom floor. The glasses were unclean and sticky, the furniture was dusty and the floors were sandy. The beds are not queen, they are full. We ended up going home ruining our girls weekend. We did stay one night. I hope you will consider refunding us the night we did not stay. In my opinion, the entire payment should be refunded. I have pictures of the electrical outlets, the dusty furniture and the bathroom floors.If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Beth Loftus

Worst check in ever

Overall house if very quaint and comfortable. Neat history! Location is amazing. Need to update pictures since last year due to water access. House and grounds could also use a good clean! Trash was found under the bed that was there from previous guest! Check in was miserable due to trying to cancel our entire trip once we were already checked in saying there was a problem with the ac unit! We never had a problem with any ac the whole trip! Finally after getting a run around the ground’s manager finally agreed to let us stay in the house since they could not offer us anything else close to what we had already paid for and wasted our first day with packing and unpacking and trying to keep 3 children occupied while they were trying to find out what they were going to do since we all just drove states away and did not have any advance notice! Worst check in experience I have ever had with any company!

Family Time

We, had a great time. This home is a great location and the view’s from the nice porch are awesome. However the cleaning of residence needs more attention, yard maintenance is a must there, with front looking not to appealing at first glance with grass over grown and weeds it looks almost abandoned. Behind house off deck there is trash everywhere tht nds someone to climb down an do a lil trash pick up. Plenty of sleeping room for 10 people, AND this is a Must, kitchen should always at least have basic stock of a working coffee pot, and baking sheet. Couldn’t believe there wasn’t one for our use! And on cleanness all was satisfying until I went to get chair cushions for dining table, some were filthy with dried food and what looked like dried cereal milk on them. Drawers in kitchen by stove needs to be free of pest droppings! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and a nice family gathering. Oh, very important upstairs master bedroom will take you hostage, Lol door trapped family member for 30 minutes do to not wanting to open! Needs repaired at once as is unsafe, to feel trapped and have a panic attack as my family member experienced. Those issues attended too, will make this a place that every guest would love an enjoy! PS, on communication with management, on a txt received upon checking in, I voiced my disappointment at not having a working coffee pot and the few items I found filthy and yet never heard a thing back from them, just saying I felt someone should have responded. Thanks
