This 15-acre forest retreat, situated on Littlefield Pond in Springvale, Maine, offers our guests an experience that feels like a trip up to the woods of northern Maine, but is closer to home and to all the attractions of southern Maine. Each of Littlefield Retreat’s vacation homes is unique, but all 5 offer our guests the seclusion of three wooded acres, a private hot tub, patio, and fire ring, as well as your own dock and canoe on Littlefield Pond.

Find peace and delight in your hobbit house fashioned after The Lord of the Rings, one of Littlefield Retreat’s luxurious and eco-friendly tiny homes offering a unique getaway experience with all the comforts you need for a delightful stay. Soak in your private hot tub. Sunbathe or paddle a canoe from your own dock on Littlefield Pond. At night, gather with friends and loved ones around your private fire ring or gaze at the astonishing number of stars twinkling in the sky over the pond. In addition to amenities like a fully appointed kitchen, comfy queen-sized beds in the bedroom and loft, and a cozy fireplace, the Canopy treehouse surrounds you with unparalleled beauty. The Shire, like all 5 of Littlefield Retreat’s vacation homes, is committed to beauty, comfort, and sustainability. For example, guests who drive an EV or plug-in hybrid can charge their vehicles at a Level 2 charger right on the property. Other eco-friendly elements are less visible but just as essential to the our vision: many recycled and reclaimed materials were used in the construction, and the energy that powers the ultra-efficient heating and hot water you enjoy comes from a dedicated solar farm off-site, making Littlefield Retreat’s five boutique tiny homes entirely carbon neutral.

Enchanting atmosphere adorned with natures serenity.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the shire house with a delightful hobbit theme, and it was an unforgettable experience. The charming short trail leading to the water set a serene backdrop, with the evening chorus of crickets, bull frogs, and toads enhancing the enchanting atmosphere. The fire pit, adorned with glowing elvish writing, was a stunning centerpiece, and the provided firewood made it easy to enjoy a cozy evening by the fire. The ukulele was a delightful touch, and tuning it to a medieval setting added an extra layer of magic to the stay. Every detail contributed to a truly immersive and captivating experience. Highly recommended! The Bluetooth speaker allowed for the perfect ambient touch. Looking for the perfect music to set the scene? HoleDweller - Flies The Coop. You’ll thank me later! Great place on my way up to Acadia NP

Just as the pictures display an awesome unique tree house with hot tub, fire pit, and fishing lake. I used all them and family had great time. Would certainly stay again.

Quiet, Scenic, and Relaxing

Everything about this treehouse is really cool, from the views to the location to the fact that it's a freakin' treehouse. It feels extremely remote, but there's civilization only a few miles away, so in that sense you get the best of both worlds. It was quite cold outside but nice and warm and cozy inside, and even though it's not that large, it doesn't feel cramped at all. My partner and I spent a relaxing two days here and we'd definitely come back in any season - maybe when the snow melts so we can figure out how to get down to the pond.
