"Sarah and Steve were very welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate our change of plans. So it’s no surprise that this carried over to the rooms which were well stocked and comfortable. The amenities and service were great and I would recommend the Alpine Rose to anyone visiting Greymouth."

"The motel was an older one so plenty of room except bathroom quite small. Staff very helpful and pleasant and unit very clean. Motel quite dated. "

"Wasnt impressed with the staff on arrival as there was no one at reception for quite sometime . Even had another customer come while i was waiting and she had to wait as well. Evwn a cleaner showed up.and was txtn to see where the staff member was . Once in the room the tv was snowy was horrible ended up getting the internet going through tv that was the only way to view the apps on it as tv itself was shocking . "

"We went for a double room with private bathroom and it was one of the cleanest places we ever stayed and everything was well organized. The kitchen is huge and very very clean, it is true we didn’t saw a lot of people using but there was a couple. Staff was helpful and show some places to visit nearby and some to eat and have a beer. Totally recommended!"

"At the time of writing, this hotel has a 9.2 on Expedia. That is truly absurd. This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). Making things worse, there is literally not a single thing of interest in Kumara (it only exists because it is a stop on the West Coast Wilderness Trail). "The outside of the building is a stark contrast to the inside of the building, which was a relief. The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing but the food was very disappointing. It was the worst steak my husband said he has ever had. He is an ex-chef. Both of our meals were warm-cold. The male restaurant staff member was not very friendly and uniform was scruffy. Heating the plates and ensuring food arrives hot would go a long way to improving things. "

"Gute Lage zur Stadt, die Unterkunft war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Aufgrund der Lage etwas lsut, aber Ohropax war vom gastgeber bereitgestellt. Ein paar Kleinigkeiten: die Bettdecke im Einzelbett war zu groß, das ließ sich nicht gut schlafen. Zudem waren die scharfen Messer leider nicht mehr scharf. Und eine Kaffeemaschine für Pads macht ohne einen Grundvorrat an Pads wenig Sinn."

"We were given an unexpected room upgrade from one triple to two ocean view rooms on arrival. The delicious dinners were offered on the covered patio overlooking the extensive flowering gardens and the ocean before our hosts treated us to an amphibious beach buggy ride at sunset. We finished the day relaxing in the hot tub. Wonderful day. They made it so easy to include everything they offered. Would highly recommend to anyone. "
