Enjoy this cozy cottage, just a short one mile drive to crystal clear Higgins Lake boat launch.

Our cozy cottage is nestled in a lush, green forest setting, and is one mile from the sixth most beautiful lake in the world, Higgins Lake and just a few miles north of the largest inland lake in Michigan, Houghton Lake. We have local trails to explore for snowmobiles, quads, dirt bikes, ATV's and side by sides just around the corner. Only 4 miles from the 6/7 trail head at the US-127 exit 201 that you can ride to from the driveway. We have a front deck with a gas grill and furniture out back to help you relax and soak up the summer sun! There's a large outdoor table with chairs as well as a picnic table. We have a large double lot with wooded lots on both sides (no close neighbors!) that provide a peaceful private up north setting along with a stone bonfire pit out back for roasting s'mores under the stars. For those rainy days enjoy a game of cards under the cathedral ceiling covered porch out back with a ceiling fan and dimmable LED lights!

Gerrish Twp. park is a local boat launch that is one mile away. It provides docking, boat launch, fishing, picnic area, and much more as you enjoy our Northern Michigan summers. Perch, pike, and trout are among the fish that can be caught in Higgins Lake plus public restrooms and a rinsing station. All is accessible by car.

South State Park and Campground is just 2 miles away which also offers a public beach and boat launch as well as camping.

Local pizza and ice cream from Polar Parlar is less than a mile away as well as Nibbles Ice cream and a fully stocked party store. For more needs theres also a Dollar General.

The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably with option of 8 if double up on the two full beds. We prefer no more than 6 adults, so the 8 would be with a few kids. We've had 3 10 yr old girls sleep in one full bed a few times while there were spare beds available (don't ask me why). A cozy family cottage interior, and offers many amenities to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

With the cottage being located on the south end of Higgins Lake and conveniently located between US-127 & I-75 trips to Traverse City, Petoskey, Cheboygan and even Mackinaw Island are recommended day trips (each within 1.5 hours drive).

Cute cabin in the woods

This cozy cabin was perfect for my husband and me to get away from the city for the weekend. It had everything we needed. We really liked that it was on a double lot with lots of trees, so we felt more secluded from the other houses, especially when we had campfires each night. But it's in a great neighborhood, conveniently located between both lakes.

reconnect 'girls' trip

Mike is quick to respond to all messages. cute 'cabin' - nice to have a comfy chair as well as couch in TV area. extra spices were a nice touch, (but we brought our own). small for as many as it can sleep, if you plan to be inside.

Quiet and Relaxing Getaway

Very quiet and relaxing setting. Very clean and well stocked home. Great location between Higgins and Houghton Lakes. Easy day trips to the U.P. or Traverse City area. Good communication with owner.

Cute & affordable place to stay!

We were happy to find availability here for July 4-7. Very affordable and plenty of property to enjoy. Nice secluded neighborhood. We brought a trailer with a side-by-side & dirt bike and there was plenty of room to park it.

Comfortable, relaxing, and clean!

My sister and I had a great time staying two nights! It was close to where we needed to be, and the neighborhood was quiet. We even saw some deer wandering around on our way in. Highly recommended.

Property as advertised. Very clean and well maintained. In a neighborhood, but a very private setting. Nice back yard with covered patio with great lighting. Property owner was very accommodating answering any questions.

Forest feeling on a paved road

Rode the motorcycles up for the firefighter memorial. Definitely enjoyed the feeling of seclusion while still being minutes from everything we needed. Home was exactly as listed. I intend to book every year from here on out

Feeling Used for updates

No problems with the overall stay. Enjoyed our family summer vacation in a house that boasts how family friendly it is. We had been very accomadating in working with the owner due to the well pump having issues and being rather loud. We auctually waited around one of the days while the repair guys came and fixed it. We came home after cleaning the house, completing all check out procedures, and putting an end to our vacation. Fast forward a week and a half and i recieved a message from the owner stating they could not find 10 knives! Now at this point how many people stayed there and what was done with the knives was beyond me. They ended up finding,the knives where someone else misplaced them and that was that. Last night i recieved an email stating that the insurance i luckily bought was being used for preperty damage at a place we stayed at a month ago! I was never told anything about property damage when the owner contacted me about the knives which leaves me to believe they are not being honest. The complaint was made about blinds and carpet. While we were there one of the very old blind things on the sliding door came off. Is this the 500 dollar blinds they are replacing? The carpet had no issues they are claming 4000 damage!!!!! My trust in what this owner is doing is lost and we will not be going back!

Nice, comfortable, and quiet cottage in the woods

We stayed here for a weekend trip to attend a wedding at the nearby Inn at Higgins. The place was very close to the wedding venue which was perfect. The house was clean and properly equipped for our short stay. The checkin process was completely painless and all communications with the host were promptly responded to. We didn't get a chance to use it, but there is a nice outdoor area with fire pit. You are next to other homes but quite a bit of space between houses and during our stay I think we only saw one other person - so very quiet. The wildlife in the yard was fun to watch - probably heard/saw 5 or 6 woodpeckers while having my morning coffee. We also saw a variety of other birds, chipmunks, rabbits, and squirrel around the property.

Certainly Cozy

We wanted a place to getaway for a couple days just to relax. Great for that. Beautiful setting, very quiet, comfortable furniture and beds, well equipped kitchen. The back yard looked great for a different time if year. We had pouring cold rain. Mike was pleasant responsive to all my questions. I wish it had bathtub but other than that, great.

Terrific Location!

Thank you for being a fantastic host Mike! House is great, location to trails were awesome. The house is well stocked with everything you need. We loved the area and were able to take trails to both lakes on our ORV. Bring peanuts, the squirrels on the front deck are hilarious! :) Steve and Ray

Mom's Weekend Away

Our group enjoyed a very relaxing weekend away from our husbands and kids. :) The home was clean, secluded, and just right for our group of 4! The beds were very comfortable and the house was well stocked with everything we needed. Check in/out was a breeze. We will definitely be back!
