Island Retreat is a 4 BR/3 BA, cozy condominium nestled on Newport Beach's renowned Balboa Island with NEW AIR CONDITIONING. Mere seconds from the Balboa Ferry, this unit makes for a perfect getaway to Southern California's endless summer!

Enjoy walking to Balboa Island's restaurants, cafes, and bayside beaches, with the main Peninsula beaches only 15 minutes away via the ferry.

Ready for relaxation, with open living spaces, a full kitchen, and patio with BBQ - ask about our attached unit for groups 10+!

Balboa Island is not only a great vacation destination but is also an excellent base for Southern California's many other attractions and theme parks!

Island Retreat is a 2-story front unit that has 1 bedroom downstairs with an attached bathroom, and 3 more bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms upstairs. This immaculate, cheery and bright home is fully furnished and equipped. Ready for a comfortable and worry-free summer beach vacation or winter rental!

Activities and Attractions:

Our property is located less than one block from the beautiful Balboa Bay, boardwalk, and the Balboa Ferry that gives access to the Peninsula beaches and Pacific Ocean. The ferry is a lovely 5 minute ride directly to the Balboa Fun Zone (with arcades, rides, and snacks), the Balboa Pier, shopping and restaurants, boating and fishing excursions (including transport to nearby Catalina Island), and bike/water sport rentals.

Agate is the only street on the island with a children's climbing gym and basketball court. On the island itself, Marine Avenue boasts fine restaurants and boutique shops that are only 2 miles away from even more fine dining, shopping, and movie theaters at Newport's famous outdoor mall, Fashion Island.

For those interested in seeing more of the Orange County coastline, Laguna Beach lies only 7 miles further down the Pacific Coast Highway. Originally an artist's colony, Laguna hosts the Pageant of the Masters and Sawdust Festival in the summer, art galleries, and fine dining and shopping along with wonderful beaches with tide pools.

Island Retreat is within 30 minutes of Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm and an hour or so from Universal Studios, Hollywood, San Diego Zoo and Sea World. The Santa Ana/Orange County (SNA) Airport is only 10 minutes away and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is approximately 45 minutes away.

The home was accurately described and pictured in the listing. The AC did not work great and was reported to the host who was responsive to our request but wasn’t able to get someone out during our stay to fix it. The house had everything we needed, was spacious and in a great location! This home is near all of the local attractions; with easy walking access, on the street that the ferry picks up from but it was very quiet at night. Having the garage space to park was helpful. As a bonus there is beach gear to use. Would definitely stay again.

Balboa island getaway

Location was perfect. Place needs a handyman to fix few small things (like bathroom towel holders that are broken, loose shower faucet etc) but nothing major and a bit of love. Overall the location, size, comfort, easy access, parking, management response and price were great. We would definitely go back if we stay in the area.

Great spot for a family vacation

We had a great time staying here. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The parking was a little tight but that’s California beach area not the property fault. A nice bonus was beach towels and toys there to enjoy.

No parking for trucks and trailers.

I had reserved this home to stay for a nearby project we were completing. On arrival the street was narrow, and there was no place for us to park the truck and trailer. Then asked the host for a refund. They could not give me one and mention that I had to do it myself. Well, I did I tried to cancel the And the system would not let me cancel. We could not stay at this location due to parking with the truck and trailer that we had so we had to pay to stay somewhere else and pay for that reservation as well. I also own Vrbo vacation rentals this has happened in the past to some of my clients or customers and I always refund them their money if there’s any type of a problem. I think owner is more worried about the money in their pocket than to do what is right for their customers

Weekend in Balboa

This was an incredible property for a weekend stay in Balboa. Location less than a minute walk from the ferry made it very easy to get around. Very spacious property with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, making it a great choice for large groups. The property manager was very responsive and kind. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute area. The house was a little worse for the ware (showers not working, broken small appliances, patched holes in the wall) but that makes sense after what I’m sure was a busy summer season. It was good for what we needed- a place to crash for two nights. I don’t think we would have tolerated a longer stay

Girls weekend

Girls trip for 5. Location was great, close to ferry and short walk to shopping and dining. Ended up driving a Tahoe and there was available street parking, the garage would have been too tight. We parked the car and left it for the weekend just using the ferry and walking everywhere.

Enjoyed a visit to Balboa last year and did it again this year. Kids, 15 and 12, know the island and Newport well. Close to the ferry, a garage space and AC. Host was responsive and very accommodating. No complaints.

Fun at the Beach!

Great stay that accommodated all of our needs and more! Loved having access to all the beach toys! Great location, easy access to and from the airport, to and from Disneyland, to and from the beach, and quick walk to the marina. The beds were a bit small and uncomfortable and the curtains in the rooms (if there were any) could be switched for blackout. Otherwise a very enjoyable vacation!
