"Sorry that there was no elevator, but because it is an historical property, it can not be installed. Staff was wonderful and breakfast and the room it was served was beautiful. Well worth the money if you can do 47 steps to the top floor. Were in our late 70’s and we did it!!!! Great spot and great people running it."

"Please do not be put off by the negative reviews.
I was worried after checking the reviews after booking the reservation, but the hotel and room were clean. Fresh towels and sheets were provided. There is an electric kettle with supplies for making quick tea.
There is good parking at the back, and a bus stop right in front of the hotel.
It was not noisy. The staff and other guests were polite. The hotel also has a lovely little dining room.
It is clearly stated that towels and bedsheets are...

"Other than a ten minute wait when I first arrived (the proprietors were off site) my stay was amazing. The proprietors were helpful and welcoming and the room spacious, warm and comfortable. It includes a good sized fridge, microwave and kettle so those on a budget can do basic meal prep. I love being out in Edinburgh but its also nice to have a comfortable base to return to at night. "Wir haben 5 Nächte über Silvester in diesem Hotel verbracht. Das Hotel-Team war steht freundlich, zuvorkommen und hatte immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen! Das angebotener Frühstück ist gut und die Auswahl bietet für jeden etwas.
Zusätzlich bietet das Hotel auch einen Pool, den wir aber leider nicht genutzt haben.
Die Lage ist zentral, man ist gleich in der Altstadt und am Grassmarkt und auf dem Castle. "
