Couldn’t make booking cause of medicinal kisses was promised a refund after paying $1.1k in taxes for not cancelling before checking in - hotel took my payment and still refuse to give me a refund toallying in taking $4k from me for not even staying.

Room was full of dust. Bottle of lotion was half way used up. The body wash was empty which shows you no staff cleaned the room prior to arrival. Oh and food was TERRIBLE as well The design is an open concept which is terrible because if you are staying with someone else and they have to use the bathroom you can hear and smell everything

I left my room and came back and grabbed my door handle and was able to get into my room without a key when I called the engineer showed up and it locked when he was there so I felt kind of silly because it did happen just not in front of him... I had someone send me flowers to the hotel at 1:55 in the morning after my long flight and ride to Harlem the front desk called me and asked me to go down from the 22nd floor to the 5th floor at 155am to get the arrangement…I waited until morning. I ordered room service the food was cold and my ice cream completely melted!!! Checking in is very strange after a long flight I got to the hotel I walked in and the 5th floor is a restaurant and bar and everyone was dressed up and it’s super crowded with the luggage and and the elevator waiting area and people trying to get through to use the restrooms from the restaurant very narrow area for all the unused seating areas they have. Also the check in is very unimpressive and uninviting. The final straw was I was leaving my room again and the door didn’t lock I was smart this time and took a video of it. Also the bathroom is cute but when I got there the doors were closed and when I opened them the sewer gas was so gross and strong smelling. Also there are apparently people who live in the building permanently but not attached but I could see into their homes and one on the 20th floor had a completely smashed window with glass missing it look slightly terrifying! Minus 10 score

There was no way to reach the front desk prior to checking in, as no one answered the phone. Upon arrival, the room was not in acceptable condition—the curtains were extremely dusty, the blinds were broken, one of the light bulbs wasn’t working, and the toilet made noises throughout the night. Although these concerns were brought to the front desk, they were not taken seriously and none of the issues were resolved during our stay. Additionally, the location did not feel particularly safe, especially around the front area of the hotel lobby. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel with two family members for 2 nights expecting a smooth experience in line with the Marriott brand but it was the opposite. Upon arrival I was required to leave $200 security deposit, but it was not fully refunded, and they give me sketchy reasons for the deduction. They charge a hidden 25$ destination fee every day you stay. And they do not tell you about it untill they charge you in the end, They have a resort fee of $25 with no amenities. You get the money back in "restaurant vouchers" but they don’t make it easy to use. This has been the worst hotel that i've stayed in, the room was not that clean, the sheets had stains on them, the coffee maker in the room was dirty, the wifi was not the best, no free breakfast for such an expensive stay, for 3 people staying in the room there was only 1 small bar handsoap. We found a regular bottle of water in the room with a $7 tag on it. Limited and expensive food for no good reason. Location is unpleasant after sundown. No refrigerator in the room. The iron was old and broken. The only thing they had on floor 9 were I stayed was an ice maker machine.

I am glad we only had to stay two nights at this hotel as the room was an extreme disappointment in its design. Although it was clean with ample space, the so called bathroom (pocket) door barely closes with a large gap and full view of the toilet. The adjoining wall has a mirror that also has an opening to the bathroom. Someone walking into the room would have full view of anyone on the toilet. There was no need for such a dismal design as there was obvious room to have a full wall and door. The reception area was also poorly placed looking almost as an afterthought adjoining next to the very active bar and restaurant. A hotel attendant walked into our room before we were able to respond. We did not spend much time in the bar area as the tables always had a “reserved” card on them regardless of the time of day. My wife and I grew up in New York City and the Harlem community deserves better. I would only recommend if you are traveling solo and will reconsider Marriott hotels for future travel.
