I was genuinely very excited for my stay at The Hotel Chelsea. The property is undeniably beautiful and iconic, and my expectations were high.
Unfortunately, my experience fell short from the very beginning. On my first night, I was assigned a room directly next to the service elevator. It was New Year’s Eve, and I already had plans that evening, so I didn’t have the time or energy to change rooms that night. While the team did move me to a different room the following morning, the damage was already done — I felt unsettled for the remainder of my stay.
I also visited the spa, and while it was fine, the overall experience was quite “meh” — nothing particularly memorable or special given the hotel’s positioning.
The restaurant was another disappointment. It was extremely busy, and as a staying guest, the atmosphere felt more chaotic than welcoming. Dining on property simply wasn’t very pleasant.
In the end, while I do believe The Hotel Chelsea is a beautiful hotel with incredible character, my overall experience didn’t meet expectations, and I would not choose to return.
