You simply can't get closer to the water! A welcoming, cheerful and fun island-style home boasting gorgeous ocean views and warm charm. The house is open and airy with a large veranda, gazebos, plenty of outdoor seating, pool, hot tub and direct ocean access.
There is a 22kw generator installed with automatic transfer switch so you do not have to suffer any interruption during your stay with island power outages which can occur often especially in the summer months.
This very much old but loved and lived in family beach house home of over 40 years is now available to rent for those seeking a relaxed and laid back holiday. It has the most stunning ocean views with the beautiful Bahamian water right at your feet!
It boasts an airy and open plan interior with a cozy but roomy living area, comfy sofas, huge coffee table, a bar w/ stools and dining table that fits 10 comfortably.
Large sliding doors lead onto a large veranda and gazebo where there is plenty of seating - perfect for relaxing, watching sunsets and lighting up the BBQ! There is a large round teak table that can fit 10 plus another good sized round table. You literally can't get a better backdrop, or closer to the ocean!
This is very much a family beach house, by no means smart or fancy or modern but offers great comfort and invites pure relaxation! We live bang on the sea so keeping up with the elements is ongoing and relentless but well worth the price we think! However, if you are looking for modern and 5-star perfection in every tiny detail, then please please note that this home of ours is not for you; but if you are after somewhere full of charm, warmth and character then this is the one for you!
I would like to clarify that this our family home and where we live when it's not rented so there are some drawers and cupboards throughout that contain our personal belongings, but ample space has been made available for you and we ask that anywhere else is not accessed, it's impossible to lock or block everywhere.
- Master: Top floor en-suite with king bed, dressing & vanity area, and an ocean-front balcony with uninterrupted views as far as the eye can see.
- 2nd: Top floor: lovely airy bright room with queen bed plus 1 twin and en suite bathroom.
- 3rd: Lower sea floor level bedroom with king bed which can be separated into 2 singles with shared bathroom. Ocean view.
-4th: Lower sea floor level bedroom with king bed and same shared bathroom.
-5th: newly resurrected good size family room with one pair of single bunk beds and one pair with top single and bottom full bed. There is a small bathroom with full shower next door to it.
All bedrooms have a tv and split unit air conditioners and ceiling fan.
Island-style cottage kitchen w/ updated and quality appliances, including: large gas stove and double oven, a French door fridge, dishwasher and plenty of kitchen ware for those cooking enthusiasts! You are very welcome to use any existing condiments if any are left after previous guests.
6 x 5 gallon water bottles are provided for making tea, coffee, ice as well as drinking; start up toilet tissue, paper towel, Kleenex, washing up liquid, charcoal for the barbecue etc are initially supplied.
Surrounding the pool is a charming courtyard/patio with a gazebo and comfy outdoor lounge furniture including long chairs, pool & hot tub, with steps down to the beautiful ocean - perfect for snorkelling or just floating about catching the rays. We provide snorkelling gear and floats plus 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards and plenty of long cushions to lay on the sea wall and catch those rays and breeze! There really is no need to leave the property! A large sandy beach, Saunders Beach, is just a few minutes walk or float along from the house.
There is a secure parking lot with an electric gate, once closed the property is very private and inaccessible from the roadside, room for 3 cars if you were to hire. Further amenities included are cable TV, internet (wireless) laundry and A/C. Please be conscientious with the A/C and turn off when not in the rooms, they cool very quickly once turned back on.
Housekeeper optional but if staying 7 days or longer, one will be included if desired for one day week.
Trustworthy pool man comes Monday and Thursday mornings.
Gardener comes Tuesday and Thursday mornings to do general tidy up outside, both have remotes and keys so they do need to bother you.
I will be there to welcome you and familiarize you with everything you need to know. There will be a house manual for your reference plus I will also be available during your stay should you need advise or help on anything at all - I will do my utmost to help you have a wonderful holiday in our treasured home and country!
Our home is very centrally located on West Bay Street:
15 to 20 minute drive from the airport.
5 minute drive to town where the straw market and duty free shops are as well as various bars and restaurants including the infamous Senor Frogs!
5 minutes to The Baha Mar Resort with the Caribbean’s largest casino and a large variety of great restaurants and luxury duty free shops plus the beautiful golf course.
10 to 20min drive to Paradise Island, depending on time of day and traffic, which is home to the famous Atlantis Resort and stunning Cabbage Beach plus the Four Seasons Resort and golf course.
A 3min walk or float to Saunders’s Beach, a large sandy beach which also has a playground for the kiddies. Opposite is a KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King, pharmacy, juice bar, liquor store and gas station.
A 3 min drive or approx a 15 min walk is Arawak Cay (Fish Fry), home to many different local bars and restaurants serving local delicacies such as conch salad and Sky Juice which may knock the socks off you!
Grocery stores approx an 8 to 10 min drive.
A 10 min drive away is Sandyport which has numerous relaxed family restaurants including Spritz, Twisted Lime and The Blue Sail which sits right on a very pretty beach, great for the kiddies! Plus a wonderful fairly new coffee shop come cocktail bar called Bon Vivante, it is well worth a visit!
All in the same area you will find several other good restaurants and more liquor stores.
A little further west you will find various other restaurants and bars including Compass Point which sits right on top of the ocean, beautiful for a sundowner, The Studio Cafe and Aquafire.
We are located halfway along the island which is only 27 miles long so just about nowhere of interest is more than a 20 min drive away!
Easy on-street access to taxis and buses. Buses, known as jitneys, pick you up and drop you from where you stand on the road, and only costs $1.25 wherever you want to go.
There is also an alarm system and once inside the property, you are totally enclosed and secure.
Other Things to Note:
All those staying at our home will be wholly responsible for their own safety. There is no fence or barrier around the pool so access is very easy - children need to be watched and we do not accept responsibility for injuries, including the steps down to the sea and whilst swimming in the ocean.
PLEASE wind down umbrellas and tie with their tags before retiring for the night, storms can blow up from nowhere and so many have been destroyed or blown away.
Please make sure all house rules are read thoroughly and by all in the group, especially when it comes to turning off bedroom acs, and the kitchen cleaning on departure day! It is all written In the house manual too!

Please, when booking, note check in and check out times so there is no misunderstanding....if there is not another group arriving the same day of departure then if nothing else is needed doing at the house, I am happy to allow a slightly later departure time, and/or an earlier check in time...to be discussed nearer due dates!
Also it is important to note that the nightly rate is based on the optimum 10 guests, I will accept up to the max of 12 but above 10 there will be an additional charge of $45 per head per night.

Additional Rules:
The person booking the house must be at least 35 years old.
In order to respect the neighbors, you are asked to stop making noise from 9 p.m. in the evening and no noise before 9 a.m.
Residents are asked to respect the privacy of neighbors. For this reason, please do not lean over the adjoining wall. A fine of $100 will be withheld if this is not respected.
If a party takes place without the prior written authorization of the host a penalty of $300 will be charged to the guest.
If the number of people declared in the reservation is not correct, a penalty of $100 will be charged in addition to the payment of $45 per/night, per/person for people not registered during the stay.
The umbrella should not be left poolside in bad weather or overnight. To avoid incurring a $300 replacement fee, please return the umbrella to its designated location after use.
Airconditioning is preset at 75°; if guests require temperture to be lower, please be aware that a charge of $80 will be applied for every degree below the 75° mark.
