Charming Maple Canalfront Condo

The Maple Suite is situated within the Mahogany Manor, a newly-built three-unit condominium located on a canal within a secure gated community in Western New Providence. This is a short distance to and from the airport, food stores, restaurants, and nightlife. Amenities include a private tennis court, swimming pool, in-unit washer and dryer, high-speed internet, flat-screen TVs in the living room, and bedroom with ready-to-watch Netflix. Enjoy the sunrise and sunset over the canal from your private back porch.
The unit is set up with one queen bed. Additional fold-up beds can be set up per your request!

The property is located on the southwest side of the island and with a car is close to beaches and shopping. It is in a gated community with a 24 hour guard. The check in process was easy, the host was responsive and parking was easy. However, the unit did not match the photos or description. While we did have a balcony it was covered with debris. There was a boat docked right at our balcony and since we were on the first floor (which we did not expect from the listing description and photos), people on the boat could see directly onto the balcony and the bedroom if we opened the curtain. The kitchen was in need of more cookware, flatware and utensils. We also ran out of gas for the stove after three nights. When booking, you may want to clarify whether you are booking the upstairs or downstairs unit as it appears most of the photos are from the upstairs unit.

Not quite as expected

The host did a good job of communicating, and helped with a great car rental. But I wouldn’t quite call the rental “charming” as it’s described in the listing. It was in no way “charming”. It was fairly clean, which was appreciated. But basics were not in place. Not enough towels or blankets, and between 3 coffee pots, none were really clean, or not broken in some way. 1 bowl, a few plates. Mismatched coffee cups. No kitchen supplies, not even salt & pepper. The worst part were the pillows, which looked dirty and moldy. Broken hanger in the closet. The listing suggests in photos that there is a nice deck with a view. The photo in the listing shows lovely matching dishes and a nice table. That is the upstairs listing, but not for this one. Our deck was dirty, chairs without cushions and no table. There was a boat moored in the canal, blocking any possible view of sunrise or sunset. It looked like someone was working or living on the boat, and we didn’t feel comfortable sitting out there. The neighborhood felt safe, and it was mostly quiet, except for a loud upstairs neighbor. Music after 10pm sometimes. It was near the dive shop we were with, so location was okay for us. But no grocery stores or restaurants nearby. A car is necessary. New bedding, towels, and a set of dishesWould go a long way in making this rental more comfortable for others. We regretted our choice.

I spent 6 days and 5 nights at this property. This was my second stay in two years. The outside looks nice. However, the inside of the place and sitting area at the back have not been well maintained. I arrived to a condo that at best had only received a surface clean. The cupboards in the kitchen were dirty and in disarray. The bedroom closet and other parts of the sleep area were not much better. I reported by discontent and shared photos with the host who responded quickly and sent someone the following moment to complete “deep cleaning”. I was out during this time. The place was cleaner, however, there was no real deep cleaning. The curtains at the front door remained stained, the doors leading to the bedroom remained very dusty and the back patio area looked like it had not been tended in quite some time. I just let it go. Netflix access was not available as advertised. This was communicated but not addressed. The area is generally quiet. However, construction across the street meant sounds of heavy equipment early in the mornings if you were at the front of the condo. The bathroom had its own issues with a shaky toilet seat and broken hook behind the door meant to hang clothing and towels . One of the stools In the kitchen was shaky, and unsafe for use. What was great was the bed. It was super comfortable and afforded excellent rest and sleep! I booked this second stay for sentiment reasons, but I won’t be back.

Canal front Condo

The condo was in a great location. Condo was clean. The area is peaceful & quiet. We felt safe there. I do wish there was more pots & pans, because we wanted to do more cooking then eating out. More dishes are needed. . Everything else was great!! We hope to stay there again.
