SANDY BAY - Sublime beachside

It is just a 140m level stroll to the well known surf beach Sandy Bay which is generally safe for swimming/surfing through all tides and also has a freshwater creek/lagoon for small children to paddle in. The well utilised walking track along the coast to Whananaki starts here for those wanting peaceful exercise.
A short drive will take you to Whale Bay and Matapouri and just a few more kilometers sees you at Tutukaka, the base for all diving and fishing tours heading out to the world famous Poor Knights Islands. You will also find a variety of cafes and eateries at Tutukaka and Ngunguru.

- Beach Towels can be provided at extra cost of $5 per person

Great location with an easy walk to the surf beach. Ideal place for exploring the Tutukaka Coast. Basic bach style accommodation that served our needs for this holiday. Good off street parking. Property has a nice feel, good outdoor area, pleasant experience.

The cottage had a special feeling and nostalgia. Kitchen was well equipped. Close proximity to owner in adjacent house was unexpected, and distance to beach was further than online photos had suggested, but we still had a good time.

Cute beach house

Very cute rustic bach that is a one minute walk to the beach. Host was very helpful with check in and communications. Definitely recommend if you are after a peaceful getaway.

Lovely base for exploring the area

There is so much to love about this area. The beaches are stunning. The bach is perfectly placed to enjoy it all. It's not the flashest but it is well equipped with all you need. Internet and phone is sketchy in the bach. The owner was helpful but also left us to ourselves. Good value. Would recommend.

We really enjoyed our short stay at Sandy Bay. Our accommodation (Sandy Bay Barn) was excellent and had everything we needed. Very clean and tidy. It was close to the beach and we would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend this place.

We had a blissful time

Exactly as I'd hoped. A small beach bach in a rural setting. Nothing luxurious but everything at hand & allowing for a relaxed holiday. We loved the outdoor shelter and spent hours reading, eating and watching the abundant bird life. Simple instructions about what to leave & how. Very comfortable beds with extra linen & bedding easily available. Toys, books, games for happy times together and so close to the beach.

Peaceful getaway

Very clean and quiet area apart from the sound of the surf and native birds. There was everything that you would need and though the barn is situated behind the main house it was very private. Beautiful view of the surf especially from the top story bedroom. Plenty of room for a family.
