Tui Cottage Private rural retreat with elevated views to the ocean

Tui Cottage is sited in a rural and nature filled environment, elevated and private, with views to the ocean and the Poor Knights islands. It is totally self contained and recently renovated with a new kitchen and bathroom with polished concrete floors and macrocarpa ceiling throughout. The bed is a super king (can be split) and there is a sofa bed. There is room for a tent behind the cottage. Rain water (soft and pure) is collected and filtered with an alpine series NFS approved water filtration and ultraviolet water purification system.
The deck looks out to views of the Poor Knights and surrounding forest and native bush. Star gaze at night to the sound of the local kiwis. In the morning wake to the Tuis and Woodpidgeons. It has it's own private drive and place to fillet the fish. 5km to Matapouri or Tutukaka there are so many beaches to explore. There are many coastal and forest walks close by such as Matapouri to Whale Bay, Tutukaka to The Lighthouse. The Nunguru Coastal walk to Wellington Bay, The Te Araroa or Tane Moana Kauri Track. Matapouri and Nunguru Inlet are superb for paddle boards and kayaks or just lazing on the beach.

A slice of paradise

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the bach. The view is stunning, the wildlife enchanting and Julia was the perfect host. The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds very comfy, and the place was spotless. The local beaches are heavenly and well worth an explore. I'd definitely recommend this bach to anyone wanting to chillout and slow down, and we'd definitely stay again.

Amazing location with breathtaking views

The cottage in Tutukaka was amazing. The views are stunning and the property itself is perfect for anyone staying in the area. We had an amazing time. Jules was a great host and gave us a tour of her whole property. She also was great for recommendations in the area and beyond and everything she suggested was awesome.

Lovely stay

Lovely secluded and private stay out in the countryside. Hosts were incredibly responsive in case we needed anything. Only 10 mins away from dive shop in Tutukaka which is what we came for. Super relaxing, the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed.

A stunning place in the middle of native bush. So serene but at the same time just a few mins drive to the town. Studio is quite spacious with a very well equipped kitchen.

5 star stay in an idyllic setting… the property has stunning views & has everything you could need. Tutukaka is a short drive away with lots of amenities. We would highly recommend Poor Knights Islands for a snorkel or scuba dive day trip & a day trip to the Bay of Islands (1.5 hours away). Julianne was a fantastic host & very attentive to our needs to ensure we had a perfect vacation.

Lovely cottage with comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities and host provided tea coffee milk and cookies for us on arrival. Nice warm facilty with good shower. Good directions and instructions found it in the dark. Great bird life all around and close to Tutukaka for diving trip

Peaceful and stunning

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The surroundings with the trees, birds and wildlife were so beautiful. The cabin itself has everything it needed, and was lovely and comfortable. We may even make this an annual thing. Thankyou so much to the host, she was warm, inviting, helpful and friendly. Incredibly happy with our stay 💖😍

Wonderful Private Peaceful Retreat

Hidden away on the side of a large private estate of regenerative native forest, overlooking a verdant valley with the most beautiful beaches, and misty mountains beyond, this is the perfect spot to escape to. Tidy and tastefully decorated, well equipped with a kitchen and Wi-Fi, with Chromecast on the TV a huge plus for us, this immediately felt like 'home away from home'. Highly recommended.

They’ve thought of everything!

Small perfectly formed studio bach with new fittings, perfect for two. There was plenty of lovely linen, blankets, etc., including beach towels. Kitchen was well appointed for cooking your own simple meals with a mini on-bench oven (we didn’t try this), a good single hotplate, and all the basics you need like oil, salt & pepper, tomato sauce, salad dressing, plus tea, coffee and milk. Nice but small ensuite. Three or four people is fine for a short stay if you’re comfortable sharing the room (studio, so fold out couch is in the same main room as the bed/kitchen, and bathroom is off the main room, not accessible from outside for anyone in a tent). Five min drive to Tutukaka and close to Ngunguru and other nice beachs to the north. Will definitely stay again for weekends diving out of Tutukaka.
