"The Hammock Cottage"

Come and relax at "The Hammock Cottage". Just the 4th house back from the beach, this classic Outer Banks vacation home will be a place your family can make memories that will last a lifetime! Just a few hundred feet from the beach you can hear the waves and smell the salt air as soon as you get out of your car! Positioned on a small side street in Kill Devil Hills, you will be away from the hustle of the main roads, but only steps away from the sand and sea. "The Hammock Cottage" also offers a parking pass for Avalon beach access parking (with a $100 cash deposit), a private lot next to the Avalon fishing pier that is permit parking only and offers a life guarded beach. This pass also gives access to the sound side boat launch and picnic area. Whether its relaxation, playing on the beach or sightseeing you seek, your family will have a great stay in this 3 bedroom retreat and enjoy the great view and sounds of the beach!

Ground Level: Exterior amenities include a covered carport with ping-pong table, charcoal grill with grill table, outside shower, picnic table, shaded hammocks and corn hole. Inside you'll find a small game room with TV, foosball table and beverage refrigerator (with separate entrance from upper level)

Top Level: Enter through the large screened porch with hammock chairs and picnic table. Inside you'll find an open great room with flat-screen TV/DVD and kitchen with gas stove, laundry area and dining table seating 6. Queen Bedroom with attached half bathroom and flat-screen TV, Queen Bedroom with flat-screen TV, Bedroom with 2 Singles and flat-screen TV, full bathroom and a private den (that can double as a 4th bedroom) with TV and Sleep Sofa..

Extras: 6 TVs, DVD player, large screened porch, high-speed wireless internet, high chair, hammocks, charcoal grill, picnic table, DVD collection, ping pong (carport), corn hole and linens and towels provided. Mini Vacations available from October 1- June 1. No Smoking. Dogs Welcome. Distance to Beach: 480'. Beds: 2 Queens, 2 Singles, Sleep Sofa.

Beach supplies and toys are for guest use including a beach cart, boogie boards and beach chairs.

Linens and towels provided at no additional cost. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made with the exception of sleep sofas, top bunks and trundles in which case the sheets are provided. This home also provides 2 bath towels per person the house sleeps, 1 wash cloth per person, 2 hand towels per bathroom and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

This house has the feel of a vintage Outer Banks beach house, which we loved, with the modern convenience (newly renovated shower and bathroom, WiFi). The location is very convenient to the Avalon Pier beach access. Easy walking distance to Awful Arthur’s restaurant and beach shop. We stayed here with family for Thanksgiving break and had a wonderful time.

The perfect beach spot! Pet friendly for 2 corgi dogs! Absolutely loved the home feel and very clean! Finally enough towels and laundry to utilize on vacation! I will definitely be staying again!

While not on the beach, the location of this house was the next best option. Loved the updated bath and even though there is only one and a half baths inside the home, the outside shower was good for the boys (LOL). The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, appliances, and gadgets. Only item I would add is a fly swatter :)

We used to stay at Hammock Cottage from 2010-2013. We really love the house and coziness of Hammock Cottage to the beach and the restaurants. The house was just as we remembered it. My only issue was the floors were very dirty. I had to buy a Swiffer mop and used an entire bottle of cleaner and 8 cleaning pads to clean the floors, as a 13 month old that is a crawler was with us. We really enjoyed the corn hole game in the car port and used the board games at night. Scrabble was fun to play. We also enjoyed the screened in porch and the outdoor shower was great so we were not taking sand into the house. Our dog Buster loved being with us and we are very happy Hammock Cottage now allows dogs. We enjoyed our stay so much we already booked for 2 weeks next year because we will both be retired and enjoy OBX and Hammock Cottage.

Everything was excellent, except the mattress falling through the bed the first night. Only thing I would change is there could be more room for groceries and less dishes in the cabinets. Being that there is a dishwasher I can’t imagine needing so many.

Love the Hammock Cottage

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is lovely and even nicer in person than the pictures depicted. My daughter loved having her own room to hang in (the office). The shower is amazing. All beds were comfortable and the living furniture was also very nice and comfy. The screened in porch was a huge bonus for us with the perfect temps we had while there. The location is super close to the beach.

Great location

Our 2nd stay. Location is so close to the beach. Also have a parking pass to a lot right beside the dumes. Lots of room in the house. Very clean and nice remodeled bath.

Obx 2024 @ the Hammock Cottage

We had a great stay at the Hammock Cottage. It was well equipped with everything we needed and more. I highly recommend this rental to anyone on a small family vacay. It was locates in a great area. Short walks to the beach and fishing pier. We would love to stay again sometime its available. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! From the Kuh family from West Virginia!!

Location perfect

We usual stay in Corolla when we visit but decided to be closer to town on this visit. The location was perfect for restaurants and shopping. Also the beach access was literally right around the corner with a small store just across from it for beverages. The house was very cozy and perfect for 4 adults.

Amazing Rental!!

The house was perfect! Much bigger than expected with plenty of parking and amenities to stay entertained. The kitchen is gorgeous and the outside deck is beautiful. Location is close to many stores and only a short walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend this place for an OBX visit!
