One of several, beautiful, spacious studios in our guest house. Vaulted ceilings and ocean view of Kona coastline. Great central location, just 10 minute drive to town, beaches, & airport. Queen bed, 2 sleeper sofas, living room, full bath, well equipped full kitchen, large covered lanai, cable TV and free WiFi, parking & beach gear. Nannette is quickly responsive. The room was as promised, perhaps even better. Clean, everything we wanted for our Air B&B week. A 15 minute drive off the beaten track.

This VRBO was great for my daughter and I. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, which I fell is hard to find. The place was very clean, and the surrounding nature, and foliage was absolutely beautiful! Yes, the frogs are loud, but you are in paradise! We used a nature sounds app on our phone and it worked perfectly to drown out the frogs. It was wonderful to have a full kitchen, as we cooked our breakfast there daily, and a couple of simple dinners. The place is stocked with just about everything you need. It was wonderful to have the beach chairs included. The only things I wish it would’ve included is a little steamer, or iron and ironing board. It was close to the airport, but a little farther away from the downtown area, though the drive is very pretty. Nanette was super responsive and very nice. I would recommend it without any reservations!

Great last minute stay!

We loved the layout and the view was nice. The coqui serenade was actually very fun. The only issue we had was the 5 per load of laundry wasn’t listed in the property description so we weren’t prepared for that but we were able to get cash for that. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bed was comfy and the pillows were great! I always worry about pillows when I can’t travel with my own pillow, I really appreciated the pillows. Thank you!

Comfortable and pleasant

We enjoyed our stay at this rental, one of four that make up the Bear Place Guest House. If everyone were there at once it might get a little loud. As others mention, there are frogs and roosters, so bring earplugs. Didn’t keep us from getting excellent sleep. As the house is on a steep hill a ways from town, there’s really no place to go for a walk. We picked up groceries in town and used the kitchen to make meals.

This is a wonderful property. My only complaint is that the roosters start crowing at 4 AM and are very loud. I am not sure if they are wild roosters or part of the property, but there is really no sleeping after they start.

Reliable Accommodations

The place was located in a safe and cozy secluded area in Kona, Hawaii. It was clean and spacious. Every accommodation was provided that we needed from the kitchen to the bathroom. The hospitality is unmatched! Thank you for a lovely stay in Hawaii!

Great stay

The suite was very easy to find after arriving close to midnight. Nannette left very detailed directions! The suite was very clean and well stacked with all the necessities. Lovely sunsets off the lanai! We would recommend this suite.

Good Home Base

The Orchid suite was clean and the pictures on the listing were an accurate representation of the space. It made for a great home base and spot to come back after a day out adventuring. While I didn't utilize the kitchen, I could appreciate that there were basic starter supplies for coffee including creamer pods, salt, pepper, etc. The house is nestled on the hillside above Kona, making it a good retreat away from the city. Everything was still within a 15-20 minute drive along a very easy to navigate route. The property also had off street parking with enough room for all guests. The downside to it's location was more in the multiple roosters that seem to be nearby. If you are a light sleeper but not an early riser, you'll want to make sure you have earplugs or some other form of white noise. I also loved that the check out instructions were super short instead of a chore list before leaving. It was great to just gather myself stuff and make sure the place was locked up. Overall the space was good, especially for the cost and I would recommend it to others.

Very comfortable and homey

Very comfortable, homey, and excellently stocked kitchen. Perfect for someone looking to make most of their own meals. Neighborhood was a little noisy with barking dogs, roosters, and coqui frogs, so if you are light sleeper might not be the best. But i wasn't bothered much. Lanai (porch) faces ocean, but large bananas and bamboo was blocking a lot of the view. Needs some radical topping. The living area is nice and roomy and the outdoor area was also nice and big with recliner chairs, and also beach chairs and body boards supplied. I think with a little bit more work this would easily be a 5 star place to stay.

Great apartment on the hill

We had a wonderful time at Bears' Place Guest House. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with a great lanai with sea ocean where we enjoyed our breakfasts, and it is well equipped with kitchen supplies. We spent the nights surrounded by chirping birds, which was amazing. The closest grocery shop is within a 10 minutes drive, while supermarkets are within 15 minutes.

A private home for you on the island - away from the tourist area and the resorts. Perfect if you don't like resorts. Big veranda, ample room, full kitchen, easy parking. Car is non-negotiable. Highly recommended. You get a queen bed and as needed an additional full bed (not a pull-out sofa)

This studio was perfect for our family of 3. It is tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood on a hill with a view of the water, but only 10 minutes from the airport. We appreciated that beach towels and beach chairs were provided - we used them daily. It was clean and well-maintained, including a full kitchen with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. We loved the large lanai, and our toddler spent lots of time chasing geckos out there! Nanette was a great host, and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend for your stay in Kona!

Tranquil paradise

We absolutely loved our stay! The orchid suite is spacious, clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies. The neighborhood was super quiet. The view of the ocean through their tropical rainforest garden is absolutely stunning especially at sunset! We were so relaxed and comfortable at our stay. We appreciated the inclusion of laundry facilities just downstairs which were very simple to operate. The hosts even prepared beach towels which came in handy. The other guests at their property were also very quiet and pleasant. Nanette’s place made our visit to the big island perfect!

An excellent place for families

This property was excellent in every way. The booking process had a small issue - Vrbo had listed the property as available for our dates, but it turned out it wasn't. However, Nanette, the property manager contacted me immediately and gave me an adjacent property for the same price. The place is very clean and has everything for a family (of 3 or 4) to stay comfortably. Nanette was very responsive to our requests during our stay (this is usually not the case elsewhere). The property is run by Nanette and her family and we got to meet some of them. They are very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. I recommend this place highly for your next vacation in the Big Island.
