- NOTE: The home's kitchen was once the main cottage, constructed around the turn of the 20th century, where travelers on the railroad would stop while vacationing in the early 1900s. The original window openings are still highlighted in the kitchen, now repurposed as a spice rack and a coffee nook with a pass-through opening to the living room
- NOTE: The fire pit and gas grill are no longer available

This mountainside home was charming, comfortable, and in the perfect location. The views were stunning and peaceful. The host was mindful enough to alert us the weather as we traveled to this mountaintop home. Very grateful.

Cute cabin with great views

This place was perfect for our visit to White Sands. High in the mountains with a great view and easy access to hiking trails. The place was spotless with all the amenities including firewood for a campfire!

Scenic, Relaxing, and Bright

Listing is accurate. Best parts: location, views, windows, and usable outside space. Open flame heaters were responsive and provided warmth. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. We were able to go to Cloudcroft to explore, but not stay at the higher altitude all the time.Downsides: bathroom was cramped, especially the shower; figuring out the heating for day and night. The wood stove looked great and plenty of wood was provided, so we were disappointed it wasn't cold enough and we were too tired to use it.

Beautiful Mountainview!

This charming eclectic cottage only about 8 miles from Cloudcroft was the perfect getaway with fantastic views from wrap around windows and private patio. The roomy kitchen was well equipped and has a large table with stools in the center. The host gives friendly service! There is plenty of parking space as we had a pickup with trailer and Model A. Highly recommend!

Rest relaxation reset, adventure

It had everything we needed, for a truly wonderful stay in the mountains. We were greeted by the neighborhood kitty. Only thing missing was a tea kettle. The perfect location for Nichols Cherry Festival and Floren Lavender Farm. Cloudcroft and Ruidoso too. Thankful that we were able to visit Ruidoso before the fire.

Nice getaway.

The property was clean and inviting. The kitchen fully equipped. We enjoyed cooking our Thanksgiving dinner there. There are many homey touches to enjoy. The home was close to both Cloudcroft and Alamogordo. We found enjoyable activities in both places.

Disappointed

The house was one of the best equipped properties that we have ever stayed at, and it was also very clean. That said, we left the rental early because it was sweltering hot inside all day and night. We knew that it was not air conditioned, but we were told that it has a swamp cooler. So okay, but the unit was a very small portable unit that could not even keep 1 room reasonably comfortable. The big issue is that it is advertised as being very close to Cloudcroft, which it is, but it was left off that it is 2000 ft. lower in elevation and on the desert side of the mountain. If you want Cloudcroft this isn't it.

Mountain Getaway

What a lovely, cozy little cottage. It's an easy drive to White Sands which was the purpose of my visit. The cottage is nicely appointed. Alma was very thoughtful and called to check on during a high-wind event. I definitely recommend this property.

Mountain Retreat

The property was everything we wanted and more. In my opinion, the description of the property was quite accurate and it contained more amenities than I have experienced at other locations where I have stayed. It was certainly spacious enough for two and had additional room for other guests as well. Although the bathroom was small it was more than adequate for our needs. It would be problematic for other guests to access during the night though, as it is located off the main bedroom. The property was clean and quiet was with impressive mountain views from the covered patio. A new gas grill, fire pit and wood burning stove with an ample supply of firewood made for a very relaxing and enjoyable time. It is my hope that the property remains available for many years to come as I would certainly like to return there again in the future.

Great location and amenities!

Fantastic property. From the outside to the inside, it was well thought out and equipped for a nice relaxing stay. Coffee, fire pit with plenty of wood, stocked kitchen. Everything we could need. We enjoyed a couple nights here. 30 min to White Sands. 15 min from Alamogordo. Beautiful views, decently private, quiet property. Would stay again!

Road Trip

Stayed here for 2 nights of our road trip. Nothing fancy, but served its purpose. Wife enjoyed the views and the deer in the yard the first night. Shower is as small at it looks in the photos but we made it work lol. Only real complaint is the no AC. A window unit in the bedroom would be worth its weight in gold for summer months there. But with low humidity not sure how practical those are there. We slept on the pull out bed in the living room for the breeze of the cool nights and that worked just fine.

Peaceful little cottage

This cottage was perfect for my two daughters (17 & 21) and myself. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and breathtaking view from the yard. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare meals and liked the table to eat together. We found the bed and couch super comfy! We spent every evening next to the fire pit for the unobstructed view of the stars. If we find ourselves back in the area, we will definitely consider staying here again!

Such a cute place!

Even without the AC, the place was perfect! The location was right in between Alamogordo and Cloud Croft and the views were awesome. Perfect for a quick little get away!
