David, the owner, was charming and told us all about the history of the castle and the region. He has gone to great lengths to create a warm, cozy, authentic castle experience! "The property was undergoing a makeover, new carpets etc and was a little bit untidy in areas. Nonetheless to be expected during contractors working there. The staff, especially the manager, were extremely helpful and pleasant."

"Such a beautiful house, and our room was fantastic. We stayed one night and the breakfast was delicious. No problem parking; the grounds were well kept. Jodi welcomed us, and even helped with dinner reservations. I loved the bathrobe touch, and the room was super cute. The price was a bit high, but we only stayed one night, so no discount for multiple nights . We really liked our short stay, and how close it was to walking to a restaurant."

After having to bring our four suitcases up two flights of stairs, our room was incredibly hot. When we opened the windows to try to cool things off, we were met by several flies and other insects. The lodging is on a very busy street in Elgin. The room itself was very nice and clean, so for a solo traveler, or perhaps anyone younger than us, this may have been the perfect stay. It had...
