Great location. Needs a lot of updating.

Location is great, but the home needs some significant updates. Furniture, appliances, etc. Also, there is no icemaker. There was one in the kitchen, but it does not work. And there is no icemaker in the refrigerator. It's a lot to pay for a home to not have a icemaker. But the location is great. The owners need to take some time to update everything about the home.

Awesome stay!

Very comfortable stay. nice beds. Wonderfully equipped kitchen. We had 23 people for Thanksgiving dinner. The weather was warm and the children went swimming in the ocean and built castles in the sand. No complaints!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

We have now stayed at Sea Spray for 2 years and have always enjoyed our weeks. The layout of the house is wonderful for a large family. The rooms are large, the beds are good, and the screen porch is a welcome addition. The location right on the beach is also wonderful. However, it is obvious that upkeep is not a priority with the owners. The ice makers in the house do not work and have not worked for quite a while. The kitchen cabinets are taped together with some sort of tape where a good paint job is needed. The shower in one of the bathrooms was too hard for most of us to operate as The fixtures were rusted. The house could also use a deep clean - there are bugs on the window ledges. The upholstery has many stains but that is not a big deal for us as we travel with small children. Basically, there is much to like about this house and with a little TLC it could be a fabulous place to stay.

Poor

This was our third year staying at Sea Spray and it was not a great experience this time. When we arrived, the freezer was broken. We called everyday and were ignored until Monday late in the day. This means we went 4 days with 8 small children and no freezer. Then cabinet and closet doors started falling off, a railing was dangerously loose, and a chair leg broke off with normal use. The house needs a lot of upgrades. Also the toilet in the room off the kitchen is uncomfortable and the seat doesn't fit. Before this we've always enjoyed it.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. Had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again. We were only sad to see the Fenceline in front of the ocean, but we were still able to enjoy the beach.

Sea Spray

As the Peace Vacation team knows, we were so disappointed with Sea Spray. So happy they were able to remedy this asap! Obviously, the owners have not invested in the home enough for renters to enjoy it. A list of problems follows: Bad odor upon arrival and did not leave when aired out Dust bunnies large around living area Coffee maker was filthy Inside furniture wet from cleaning Furniture outside so dirty could not sit with nice clothes Carpet very dirty up the stairs and possibly moldy in first room floor Trash can drawer cannot open readily Holes in walls No Ice anywhere Bed very soft and uncomfortable Water pressure spitting in shower

The house is not beach front or accessible to the beach

The pictures are incredibly misleading. There's no access to beach because the beach is gone! There's a huge wall blocking you from the beach. Shame on this rental company advertising as beach and ocean front.

Additions to Sea Spray Review from family

Additional problems: The grill did not work. Would not heat enough to cook our burgers The ice makers produced unclean ice And had a crack in the bucket of one. There is a nail sticking up on the boardwalk The house needs repair in general. When you pay 10,000+ for a week, you expect better.

Peace was very easy to work with, location of Sea Spray on the ocean was perfect for our young grandchildren, DeBordieu is a wonderful family oriented community. Sea Spray, the house, lacked both the quality of construction and had deferred maintenance that only a Motel 6 would have after years of neglect. I have owned and operated a Property Mgnt Co for 35 yrs and owned a beach front house in Duck NC for 33 yrs. Peace is a fine company with a reputation of renting quality houses, it's time to remove this house from the rental pool!

Review of Sea Spray

This is our 2nd time at Sea Spray. The size and location is great for our family but we decided not to rebook next year for these reasons: The den furniture and patio furniture are dirty/ tattered and some are broken. The dining room chair covers are torn with one having a nail coming through. Some of the lamps don't work. The kurieg did not work and the kitchen cook wear needs to be cleaned out and restocked. The patio doors are very hard to open… they were all stuck. The bedrooms were in good shape. No problems there. This house needs a Spring Clean Out with new furnishings. The carpeted stairs have a nail coming through on one of the steps.

2 serious issues: sliding glass doors difficult to open and close; ice makers in serious need of defrosting and cleaning. These ice makers are old and in a class of "made to last with care". If not tended to soon, they will stop working . That would be ashamed, as they are now expensive and not made to last. Also, owners need to be made aware of dry rot at glass door in dining area. Clean-up crew needs to check light fixtures and replace burnt out bulbs. We enjoyed the house and found it so comfortable and warm. We would rent this house, again. Catherine Latimore

Most unfortunate experience at Sea Spray this year. The house was dirty, the carpet is filthy, sofa dirty, kitchen needs remodeling, sliding glass doors are very difficult to open and close which is a fire hazard, roaches in the kitchen and VERY disappointed we had no beach access. It would have been nice to have at least been told that our advertised front beach house was not really a front beach house. Needless to say, we will not ever be renting this house again. I will add that the owner was on it when the dishwasher broke and brought us a new one but by then our week was almost over. I think the owner really should think about putting some TLC into his home. I would never recommend this house to anyone I know. I have been coming to DeBordieu for 50 Years and my parents have owned a home there for 40 years and I have NEVER had such a bad experience. Oh well, better luck next year!

Sea spray Needs to be Refreshed

We enjoyed our visit to the beach and Georgetown. However Sea Spray was a less than great place to stay. The house has numerous things needed to refresh. The owners need to invest to upgrade and repair several areas. Listed below are some of the areas: Boardwalk replacement (several rotten boards, ceiling mold in master bedroom, master bath urinal on left side is slow to flush, the wooden railing was showing rust on nails, loose and missing hand railing the outdoor sink does not work and spews water directly from the spray head, badly rusted roof vents, dirty dishes with dried food in the pantry. Badly stained upholstery throughout house, the carpet was terribly strained, wooden chair in master bedroom fell apart, the Subzero refrigerator beeped constantly due to failing vacuum condenser. The weekly rental fee of approximately $10,500 was too high given the condition of the house. We were disappointed we had to put up with the house conditions The owner needs to invest. I suggest the house be removed from the rental market until these items are corrected. The house is not a good image for Peace Vacations

OK

We absolutely loved the “ bones” of the house and the setting! However, it was unfortunate that we ran in to arrival complications… no made beds, and the house uncleaned. We appreciated the very quick response by your staff on these issues. A few other complications -upstairs single bath shower did not work( or my son thought he would damage it to get it to pull for shower. - porch was an absolute disaster as far as filth ( maintenance attended to this in an average manner) - nails in the driveway cost one visitor a trip for a tire repair - grill was a disaster also! Finally got all burners working but it took about 3 scouring pads and a lot of effort to at least get the rack usable. - no mat at the front entrance surely costs wear and tear on those beautiful pine floors!! It was raining during pack up and I hate how awful we left the floors because of tracking mud and dirt. Thank you for your help and for your attention to our concerns. I trust that their will be answers to these problems for the next time renters.

Sea Spray

While we found the location of Sea Spray to be excellent we found the actual house to be anything but. The house was old and tired in need of updating and maintenance. The furniture in the living area was filthy. There was a random bathmat placed on the rug-we guess to keep one from tripping as the mat for the rug was sticking out about 6-8 inches. There were knobs missing on kitchen cabinets. The porch furniture was so filthy we could only sit on it if we first placed a towel down. A chair in the primary bedroom had a large rip in the fabric. Each closet in the house was filled with random items such as chairs (there must have been 5 or more scattered throughout the various closets), old lamps, a random mirror, an old tv, golf clubs, old jam boxes… The freezer was not working properly. We called about it as well as the poor conduction of the house and the rental company promptly sent someone out to check on it. They even offered to rent a freezer for us for the rest of our stay. The list could go on but I think you can get the idea. The house just did not have The Peace Vacation or Debordieu vibe. We were disappointed with the house

It waa Ok

The house has great bones and we even can appreciate the rustic charm. We have been renting here for 18 years and I honestly feel bad making any suggestions. It appears that someone loved this house 20 years ago, comes and visits and has not thought about the people renting it. The internet was awful, we realized after having the cable company coming out that it was as good as it was going to get, but in this day in age, add a few eeros or expanders. Our son is a new investment banker and we sent him back to NYC after 3 days because the setup was inadequate. My husband and other banking child were able to make do with purchasing hot spots and having less work because they were on "vacation." This day in age, everyone has to work while on vacation, the setup needs to be there for them. The view is beautiful, because we visit DeBordieu yearly, we know the state of the beach in that area. What is deceptive in the pictures, is that you think you have direct beach access, but the entry is gone. Also, if DeBordieu was new to me and I did not know the state of the beach there and no one had been honest about it in the advertising, I think I would have been upset (this is not the case for us). Also, one of the bedrooms is within another bedroom, this is not a "6th bedroom," especially with grown adults. Going through the floorplan and studying completely, we can see the layout, but it needs to be listed as a 5 bedroom. The house itself is fine, but nothing great. Most of the extra closets have stuff thrown in them, the outdoor hose is leaking everywhere and hard to use (a 3-5$ fix), the bed linens are very thin and supar. The house was fine, the porch view was great, everything else just seemed like the owners loved it a long time ago and are trying to make some money without concern of the renter. We will be back next year, but to a different house.

A great house for a large group with an unbeatable view

Check in and check out could not have been easier. The house was perfect for our large group. And oh my - those breathtaking views of the ocean. The wi-fi was a little spotty, but that's a minor complaint. We are appreciative for the quick communication with the property manager, and just loved being at this house for Thanksgiving.

Great house, but unfortunately no direct beach access as there are no stairs to the beach.

We enjoyed our stay despite not being informed that there was no beach access in front of the house, due to extreme erosion and the sea wall.

Relaxing beachfront house

Our family had a reunion in June 2018 at this beach house. This house is a spacious, casual place for a great beach vacation. We enjoyed our stay but needed to purchase beach chairs which we feel should have been provided by the rental. Although this house was a casual vibe it could use a bit of an updating. All in all we had a great time. Thanks for the use of your beach house.
