"I was confused by the reviews on this hotel as they swung from terrible to fantastic. I found the place perfect for my stay, while doing the coast to coast walk. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the bar was good, I didn’t require an evening meal. The room was clean as were the facilities. "Was an older style hotel staff were friendly enough but place could do with a lick of paint. Food was ok served in the bar area. My room looked out over a roof with two boiler vents so window handle had been removed (for good reason as one does not want to be breathing those fumes even if it is mostly steam) but meant no fresh air. bed was comfy and room was spacious enough. "
