"Was debating between giving it a 2 star or a 3 star but had to give it a two. It wasn't all that clean. The tub was dirty, there was stuff on the shower curtain, hair all around in the floor and one long one in the towel, there was a big hole punched into the wall in the bathroom and there was no vent fan so every-time you take a shower the entire hotel room gets “moist.” The TV disconnected the last day we were there for some reason. "We loved our stay at Fern River Resort. Tucked beneath the trees, it felt peaceful and fully immersed in nature.
Our cabin was clean, cozy, and warm, we lit the fireplace in the evening and unwound after a beautiful train ride through the redwoods. Sitting by the river at dusk was one of those simple, perfect moments you wish you could stretch out a little longer.

Air conditioning in our room was not working- we were offered a fan the first day. However the next day I asked the maintenance guy himself and it was fixed in 2 minutes.
Power went out in our room one morning from turning on the hair dryer. We were told maintenance wasn’t in yet so no one could flip the breaker.
Room keys reset 3 of 4 days.

"The staff was amazing. So nice and attentive. Our room lock was malfunctioning but they had it fixed the next morning. The only downfall was not the fault of the Best Western - two nights in a row, other guests came in just before 3am and woke everyone up. In the parking lot, stomping in their rooms, beeping their car alarms. Annoying, but I know they were on vacation. Not the end of the world. I'd definitely stay here again."

"So glad they have parking, but it is a tight squeeze. We had issues with check in and got in about 1.5 hours after check in time. The walls are really thin and you can hear every loud conversation and all the running around and furniture moving around you. The location is perfect and the staff is really nice and welcoming."

"This hotel is a short drive to Monterey or even Santa cruz. It's not your average hotel where you wonder if the people are on vacation or if they're actually living there. It's right on the water which is near the Elkhorn Slough. You might see otters in the water and there are a variety of birds right outside of your window. The room was super cute. You have access to the shared kitchen and dining room in the house on the property. I will definitely be staying there again."
