"We realy enjoyed our stay. The proprietor, Jazz, couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, arranging check-in time at our convenience. It is a little noisy on a busy road, but has good double glazing, was quiet between 11pm and 6 am, and with ear-plugs we slept very well and uninterrupted. Highly reccommended. "

"Ideally situated for an overnight stay if walking the South Downs Way. Excellent Sunday lunch - we could understand why it was popular! The Landlord was very helpful in providing the best route to re join the South Downs Way the following morning. Unfortunately the nearby cafes were not open for breakfast on Monday - The Green Welly doesn't open and The Nutmeg doesn't open on Bank holidays! We resorted to buying two baguettes from The White Lion and having them for breakfast and lunch!"

"We found this 5* B&B online and it WAS! Warm welcome, beautiful twin room with ensuite and excellent extras provided. Extremely comfortable beds. Excellent choice of breakfast and excellent breakfast beautifully served. Would very much recommend this property and definitely would visit again."

"The room was absolutely fine, albeit not particularly well insulated from the sound of other guests. I was a little disappointed with the food. Service was fine but my meal was no than average pub fare. I'm pretty sure my burger had been frozen at some time in its' life and would have expected something with a bit more flavour and a little less chew. I would certainly stay again though."

"Had a lovely one night stay. Staff were incredible, super friendly and helpful, especially the sommelier Marc. Food was also delicious. Great that it’s dog friendly too, our puppy loved it! "

"Lovely hotel "

"Great place to stay. We were going to a concert In Brighton and this was an ideal place to stay. Staff were helpful about local area, amenities and getting to and from Brighton. Room is simple but perfect for what we needed. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice, happy to accommodate special dietary requirements. Highly recommend. "

"I cannot recommend this place enough, we had a wonderful stay. The room and its surroundings are absolutely beautiful. It is peaceful, the staff are attentive and it was just the most relaxing stay. We can't wait to visit again."

"Amazing stay this weekend at Ashdown. We were able to play tennis, use the driving range, lunch and walk around the grounds all before checking in. Room was beautiful and clean with a great view! Dinner in the restaurant and breakfast also great and generous portions. Service fantastic! "

"The hotel was a quaint old British house with high ceilings and wide stairs. A little bit dated and possibly in need of some cosmetic improvements, but very nice, quiet and relaxed. The rooms were relatively spacious and clean, and the breakfast was very good. Staff were extremely friendly and polite, and the location was close enough to the town centre and the train station, without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a busy street. "Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was beautiful and (when I was there) very quiet. There's also a small sauna and steam room, and a tiny (but perfectly formed) gym, Excellent breakfast selection, and again staff very helpful, even with late arriving guests.
