When we arrived we were informed that they were renovating the facility. We were told they were replacing windows and that the crews would start at 8 am. We were then informed that the restaurant and bar were closed. They did start replacing windows the next day and were banging and making a LOT of noise with drills. We opened the back door to our room to get fresh air. My sister had her service dog with her and the dog would bark when they were banging and making noise drilling. She barked maybe 6 times. We received a call from the front desk asking about the dog. My sister informed them she is a service animal and offered to bring her service animal paperwork for them to see. They said that wasn't necessary. We were booked in to the hotel for 2 nights. On the second day (my sister's birthday) the management called me and told me we were being evicted because the dog was barking. I explained the dog barked because of the banging and drilling from the window replacement. The management did NOT care and they actually kicked us out of the hotel. I told the front desk I wanted a FULL refund for the night we were missing. They said they would refund Expedia and I would need to get my refund from Expedia. We had to change hotels and pay $356 for the night of my sister's birthday. All in all this was a terrible experience!!!

It's trying!!!! It looks like it truly has seen better days but, it was a last minute decision for us as we traveled through the area. The price was very good and at one time, the property must have really been beautiful. Unfortunately, the buildings are out dated, and the construction is also. When I say, they are trying, it's because you can tell that they are trying to spruce the place up. New flooring, new windows (in some areas). The hotel itself is multiple buildings and they only had one that they are using at this time. Everything in the common areas was dirty. Stains in the main hallway that could have easily been mopped up but were there when we checked in and there when we checked out. The sound echoed throughout the rooms and hallways. You could hear the people talking in the room next door, toilets flushing, etc. No modern features for electronics like USB ports in the plugs or lights. The room we had, did not have new windows and there was mold all over the outside of them. I was told by a neighboring business that they hotel was recently sold to a major chain and they will be coming in and redoing the entire thing. If that is true, they will have one absolutely stunning property

How can you score a Resort who cancelled the day of Check In? After driving over 2 Hours to take My Kids to College Spring Break. They said; “Expedia Over Booked”. I’ve been Traveling for 20years ( World ) and this is seriously BAD!!! I forced the Manager to help me find a Room! Which is $100 more - SUCKED!!!

Continental breakfast only served until 9am. Only hot items are oatmeal and coffee. No staff on site after 10pm. Just security guard. TV was very hard to hear at full volume the first night. The next day it was fine. Thought they had a volume control set for nighttime, but front desk said they don’t. Weird! Pool area and hot tub very nice! Hotel is being renovated due to flooding in 2025. Only 1 building is currently being used.

It was beautiful but also going thru a huge renovation since the hurricane so there is only 1 building open. They are doing the best they can right now but it is a beautiful property and the adventure center was right there on property and wonderful.

If it weren't for the onsite Manatee tour, we would have checked out before even going to our (filthy) room. The pool was a hole in a concrete slab with extreme construction noise (generators, large trucks hauling and dumping dumpsters for hours, etc.) and a hot tub that was scalding in areas, no food or drinks (not even a convenience or counter) were available other than the continental b-fast that we were told was to be offered but after looking around, we knew we were not going to eat anything that came out of there! Our room seemed ok at first glance (thankfully the bedsheets appeared clean),but overall, it was truly disgusting upon a closer look and positively filthy. We were in a "renovated"? area of the hotel that was purely just lipstick on a pig. The stairwell smelled like a wet dog and the wall behind our nightstand/beds was solid black from spilled who-knows-what. Though our floors were not carpet, our feet were still black from just one evening. Additionally, the lock to the adjoining room door didn't lock fully, and there are no locks on the building doors or pool access areas for guest security. I would make your manatee tour a day trip and stay elsewhere. (The tour was wonderful, by the way - the price, location and staff make it a fantastic experience that I highly recommend). We were booked for 2 nights and left immediately after our manatee tour. This wasn't even worth the super discounted rate I received through Expedia using travel points.

The Plantation at Crystal River is currently undergoing extensive renovations, so some of the amenities were not available, i.e., their Tiki Bar. For now, our room was clean and remodeled, and parking was easily available. It is close to everything in both Crystal River and Homasassa, and we definitely plan to go back to visit again once their renovations are complete. We would definitely recommend...the property they are situated on is absolutely gorgeous and surrounded by waterways.

This hotel has open foyer to second floor in their buildings. Very noisy as all noises n voices carry down hallways. There was a rowdy wedding party that decided to hang in foyer for hours n so i couldnt sleep. Would not stay here again as walls seem paper thin

The property has much potential but is currently under reconstruction and repair, which we did not expect! We were very shocked to see the difference in what the photos show of previous beauty and what exists at this time. There are many workers present and I imagine it will be very nice in the near future. It is not a nice place to stay at this time.
Temporary fencing around pool - no Tiki bar or services - buildings are boarded up while reconstruction takes place. Understandably necessary ... but should not be advertised as it is.
Broken light fixtures laying around - the property is just not ready to be open yet. Beautiful property and should be nice again someday!
Workers were resurfacing the fountain (sandblasting/pressure washing). Should be lovely again someday.

I was disappointed when room wasn’t available at the 4pm check in time. The lobby and room had a definite musty/mildew smell. Window in room had black areas on the glass, could hardly see through the clouded glass. Cobwebs on ceiling, air return filter was gray with dust and very over due for change. Doors were spotted with various colored remains from previous guests. HVAC registers and sprinkler systems were excessively rusted. They ran out of coffee during morning continental breakfast. Just not what I was expecting from previous reviews, especially from website description. Positive was linens were clean. Staff provided towels so we could use the pool before check in. I felt like I was sold a room that wasn’t aware of its state in reality.

The pool is was not useable. There was NO tiki bar and NO restaurant as advertised. Only less than a 1/3 of the building was open. Also there was to be a continental breakfast which they said was unavailable when checking in. The staff was Very UNFRIENDLY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL . DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE WITH EXPEDIA. we left after an hour. And r requesting a total refund. HORRIBLE

Clean rooms. Good staff. However there was no restaurant or bar facility. Apparently they were being redone.

At 12:38 a.m. I sat up to go to the bathroom, and before I could put my feet on the floor, the side of the mattress caved in with me and I sat flat on the floor, hurting my back and hitting my arm and head on the sharp corner of the bedside table. The next morning, I limped down to the office and told them about my injuries. The desk clerk took a report and told me I would be hearing from those in authority by phone or email. I was leaving on a cruise, so intermittently, I checked for both calls and emails--crickets. When I returned on Friday, I called them to find out why I had not heard from them and asked for a call. Nothing. Saturday, I made a complaint online to the Better Business Bureau. Sunday, I got a call from the female manager who was extremely rude, hostile, and cold. She said she had it on her calendar to call me on Monday. She then asked what I "wanted from them". I said I wanted them to acknowledge that I had filed a report of an injury on their property, and for them to act like they cared in the least for that fact. I do want to add, that while I was in the lobby getting breakfast after I reported my injury, another guest came in and he told the desk clerk that the beds were "worn out". The manager had told me that she had checked out the bed I was sleeping in and that it was not broken. The thought came to me of how did she know which bed I slept in, as there were two beds in the room. I will NEVER stay at this place again. Not recommended
